Have anyone heard of HD radio? Its digital quality (CD quality) FM radio. You don't have to pay like XM or Sirus and it works with existing radio station. So its FREE! I've heard somewhere that this format is popular in europe markets. I think it allows for songs to be tagged like they can be in the mp3 format.

there are 3 stations in my area in HD format. 2 are classical, one is smooth jazz (elevator) the unit costs $400. i will NOT be picking this gadget up, but it is promising. i think that satellite might usurp the promise of HD radio though. HD doesn't change the fact that what i hear on the radio is the same crap repeated every hour.

oh and standard stations are already tagged on my deck. it's called RDS or something like that, don't have to have HD for it. some stations don't say anything, some say the name, and some even say the song and artist playing. depends on who is broadcasting

In the future, It might be a paid subscription, but not right now. FM will be in HD and AM is in stereo instead of mono.
