Advanced Induction Research Manifold A No Go

Subject: RE: info@advancedinductionresearch.com

Kevin,

Sorry, but we don't have any plans for a production D series manifold.
The
tooling and development would be way too expensive for the small
quantity we
could sell.

The manifold plenum and runners are all carbon fiber/epoxy. The
fittings
are CNC machined aluminum. Thanks for the inquiry!

Have you seen the IM designed by one of our members? Looks really, nice, but it's quite expensive, like over 1k. He was talking about making a second one and having someone test it.

Yeah I am already scrounging parts to make another one for someone. We will see what happens with the price and power gains. It will definatly be good for boosted aps but the dollar to power ratio for the n/a guys may not be worth it unless you have a sick motor. Adds torque and fattens up the power curve quite a bit. It was a very noticable bolt-on for me, not one of those "all in your head" mods. My buddy drove my car from one day to the next and he was surprised. So we will see what happens in the next month or two with these things.

They actually should be somewhere around 1300 to 1500. I know its a rediculous price but its a ton of work. Not to mention its in small quantities. Thats just how it works out I can't help it. If I can find somone that does low production aluminum casting maybe I could produce them for half that but as of yet no luck for us. Same deal with major companies as they have told us. For the amount it would cost them its pretty much not worth it. I did it for myself. Thats what it costs me to duplicate what I built. Things cost so much now, everything has gone up considerable in the last few years.

For low production aluminum casting, try looking for small aerospace fabrication businesses. My ex girlfriend's dad and I were starting to make custom composite parts for the 01 up civics when I ran across a guy who did custom aluminum castings. He was based out of a very small local airport out here. He took everything to a foundry to be cast, but he did all the prototyping "in-house".

custom IM

Im working one a custom billet intake for my "04 and my salesmen's 93 accord h22a1 swap. It will be made out of 6061 - T6 Aluminum and will have built in ports for gauges and nitrous. Have about 20 hours of CAD and 10 hours in runner design. I think that i will leave them open on the beta design for the customers that want to adjust there own runners. (longer=N/A - Shorter=F/I) Will get the prototype done in time 4 X-mas and will road R&D in the spring. Have a lot going on from now to then SEMA in NOV. , Tokyo AS in JAN. and if all goes well and they take my new offer we will be building a new shop just outside Florence KY. I can add as many or as few ports for different things as you need can even put the TB port just about anywhere you would like it top or side if you wanted to use a custom TB app. Please under stand that i will not release this until all bugs have been found and steped on. As it comes time for the release i will sell atleast 2 IM for the cost of the material just to see it people like them if not them i wont make anymore of them but we are talking next spring ("05). here is a sneak peek @ the rough prototype intake main body and will change and testing goes deeper. @ this time this is all i will be showing for now anyway. I will also be offering custom fuel rails for our cars for both the return and the returnless style fuel systems. will post some more on this when i get a little more done. untill then if you need anymore info just email me.

Later
UnStAbLe

ps. please understand that i am a shop owner and a tuner not a flyby night fab shop if i dont like it i wont release it. Its that simple. I am not a SF or DH wannbe!

Im trying mine under boost soon. Mine is pretty much the same deal. I can make them in various styles top/side and short/long runners. All my stuff is cnc machined from 6061 also. It will be interesting to see the similarities and differences of the two. Ive got it all figured out and made a few different styles already. Im in the process of getting one together for a member of this site to test on his car. They are really beautiful too. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

The prototype is under going a 100 psi 48hr hold test as we speak. im pissed B/C the guy wont be out to fix my 3-axis mill until wed. Here's a hint man don’t ever let your friend use your tools. LOL. This same a$$ hole broke my new tig welder last month. oh well I guess its all on me. yeah I would like to see what yours will turn out like. I have about a hundred different things going on all @ once. My lawyer just faxed me my patent paperwork on Fri. How much flow bench testing have you done so far? and how did you correct the airflow to the farthest cly. If you mounted you TB on the side of the intake? good luck man if you ever need anything just let me know.

there are pics on the site under "new intake manifold design" thread. I gained like 10 ft/lbs of torque at least and a fair amount of hp for an N/A design just as a bolt on that is impressive i think. The power seemed to be right where it was needed low-mid all the way up to 6600 was just so much stronger. Honda does a pretty good job so its hard to do better. I kinda tapered the opposite end of the manifold a lil bit to compensate for the flow but I think it would be better as a top mount if I can adjust the fitment a lil bit it would be fairly easy for me to do. Also runner length seems to need to be fairly long for the n/a setup. I tryed shorter runners and they shifted the power up way higher than these cars need. The stock length is ok but I went just a couple inches shorter and thats where things worked out best. I think for boosted cars I'd make them considerably shorter though.

I didnt do any flow benching, I pretty much did a trial and error deal with the dyno. Since I dont have access to a flow bench thats what I was stuck with. With all the testing stuff you have you should be able to beat my design without too much trouble. I'm just trying to help the 7thgen community and seeing how nobody else would make anything descent at the time I figured I'd do my best to see what I could come up with. It worked well for me and I just figure if I can help lead somone in the right direction or give some input about my experience its worth it. I doubt right now that I can produce them because of the cost, who would spend over a grand on a manifold. I keep going back and forth with the idea. Right now I am burried in work untill at least nov first so I dont want to bite off more than I can chew and make enemies.
