Sub: best bang for my buck?

I'm looking to buy 2x10" subs. I don't want to spend a fortune... what would be my best bang for buck choice? I want good sound, as well as some volume. No competition/show for me, though!

A friend of mine suggested SPL Audio but after hearing his, I was less than impressed.

Thanks!

Budget?
Do you have an amp for it already? If so, what are the specs on it? If not, what is your budget for the amp?

Why 10s? Would you go with one 12 or 15? What is your price range?

Around $75-100 per sub I believe. I'm most likely getting a Power Acoustik 1200 watts amp.

Also, am I better off with dual voice coils or single?

I've got a couple of old school MTX Thunder 5000s. Still brand new, in the box. I really need to get off my butt and install them.

For low budget but good sound, anf if you are wanting to get two 10's I'd say the Image Dynamics IDQ10v2's, or Elemental designs ED10K's, Treo Engineering 10's, etc. If you're willing to go with a single 12, I'd say go for an IDMAX or maybe a Bramah, or xXx. Though it may cost you a little more than the $200 you're talking.

Am I wrong saying that 10"'s will give me more punch, and 12" will give me more low end (that, I know it does)

I mostly listen to rock music. That's pretty much I wanted 10"'s.

Thanks!

I just got my Adire Shiva installed - it pounds! I only have one of them - I couldn't imagine what 2 or 3 would sound like. IMO it sounds better than some two sub set-ups that my friends have (10s and 12s). I couldn't imagine the bass coming my one Shiva after install - I don't even have the amp turned 1/2 up and the sensitivity isn't high at all - I still have to tweak it but I would definately recommend the Adire Shiva. If not I would go with something from Elemental Designs (eD) or Image Dynamics since your on a budget.

alpine type r's. infinity 1030w's. those you can go to c-city and hear.

image dynamics roxors my soxors. i loved my idmax for rock, it really brought it to life. if you can get a used one for 200-250 shipped i'd say do it and you will so not be dissapointed. it gets loud without a big amp, but never loses clarity. plenty punchy.

VC doesn't matter. it's for wiring. pic subs and then you can pick an amp based on what you got.
