Arrow FS: Used Gas Cap off a 2002 Honda Civic EX Coupe

I have my gas cap off of my 02 civic up for sale. The gas cap is in perfect condition, I am selling it because we have emissions testing here and the cap failed the testing, I dont know why though. The cap never gave me a check engine light, so if you need a cap and dont have emissions testing, here you go. I will sell it for $7 shipped.

yea I dont know how though. But I thought I would sell this if anyone needed it. I used it and had no problems. I just had to change it to pass emissions.

either the gas caps are defective or the emissions guys have gotten together to make some money on the side selling gas caps. lol. anywayz thats werid that honda wouldnt pay to have them replaced since it should all be perfect for emissions.

I think you can bring the bill from the gas cap to Honda. Not sure if there was a recall on it but apparantly it's a known problem

I called honda and asked them to reimburse me and they said no because the cap is only covered under manufacture warranty. But honda knows its a problem right?

mine failed inspection and it was do to gas cap, but my inspector pass me. he told me that they had so much problem with the new hondas specially civic, some accords. all he told me to do is fill my tank and come the next day, but try not to open the gas cap and when come leave engine on. he said when gas tank is full and driving cause it to move and cause pressure, so the second time i pass it.

i'm not very knowledge of this issue, but i follow the mechanic instruction so i ask he is right.

oh yeah he kept yapping about the change in btu from the gas, i don't know what that really means but he said that some of gas station put chemicals to treat their gas which change the property of the gas. supposely this treat the gas and make ease on engine parts like injector and engine cleaner. hope this help.

Well my gas tank was full, so maybe thats the cause of it. Well is there anyway to be sure of this. Because if my gas cap is still good, I want to know. Is there a way I can have a shop look at it, and then to see if it is good, then I will take it back and get my money back for the cap. Oh, and another thing, now since the cap has been off my car for over 24 hours, do you think that it would still have pressure in it. I am going to take the cap to honda tomorrow and have them check it.
