speaker arent loud enough
speaker arent loud enough
Currently i am running a clarion DXZ745MP hu with eclipse 6.5 three ways in the front and 6x9's four ways in the rear. everything is powered by a 4 channel clarion amp (50x4 rms to each speaker) . After all these upgrades my music still isnt that loud. If my windows are down I cant hear **** even with the music turned all the way up and its not all that loud even when the windows up. Has anyone else had this problem? Could it be the door panels...bc they are to hollow? or did i buy bad speakers?or do i need dynamat?
I have sat in a couple different cars all with stock head units, a toyota highlander, a newer cougar, and ford explorer. and they are 10 times louder then my system...Its really pissing me off bc i dumped all this money into it and it still sounds like ****....Anyone have any suggestions??

Wow, um maybe your hearing is going bad, lol? When I added dynamat to the car, it made a big difference. Even one layer will be noticable. Just install it well using a roller to get air bubbles out. Heat gun works well, too.

Also, our car accoustics are terrible. If I open the rear windows in my sedan, the bass sound goes out the window (literally). I bet the same thing is happening when you open the windows. Does it sound good at a stop with the windows up? Anyway, try the dynamat.

Dynamat won't make a world of difference when his speakers aren't making any sound in the first place..
What does it sound like turned up in park with the car off?

I have a REALLY hard time believing it isn't loud enough. I'm running an MTX Thunder404 (50x4) powering just two JL Audio VR650-CSi speakers up front (only using two channels on the amp). The gain is turned up about halfway, and I can still hear it plenty when the windows are rolled down, going 80 on the highway.
I wouldn't describe it as mind-numbingly loud or anything, but it is certainly louder than what you are describing!

I think this guy is going deaf, seriously. I have some little infinity speakers and alpine 40x4 amp. If I turn it up halfway, it's plenty loud.
Damn I have fx4 boston's in the doors, 4" coaxials, and stock 6x9s' in the rear, faded almost all the way to the front. It is plenty loud with the windows down. The only thing I can think is, The V-offset. not sure if that would make a difference. V-offset is on the kenwoods, not sure on yours though.
Gotta be gains....
Yeesh....I'm running Eclipse 6.5" 3-ways (8363's) all around just off my HU, and I had to dial up my subs to keep up with them. With an amp those things should be scary loud.

Here's something you can try. The stock speaker covers are very restrictive. You are hearing less than 1/2 the total volume they are capable of producing. You could drill more holes in the plastic where it's blocked or just cut out the speaker hole and put some wide-holed mesh in there.

Regardless of how much sound they hold back, they should still be loud enough that he doesn't complain
I use the amp in my deck, and even flying down the freeway, with the bass up, I can still hear the music is fine. Sounds like the problem is with his amp.
Tgalli12: If it's easy enough to do, try hooking your speakers back up to the deck to see if it makes it louder. If it does, you know it's the amp.

50 watts is loud IF everything is working properly
If his amp has a problem or there is a problem somewhere else and his amp can't put out that full 50wrms then it may not be his hearing
