where has the bass gone ??
where has the bass gone ??
heres my story
i used to have 2 12'' impp subs in my civic hatch , i swear you could not breathe in the back seat . then i switched to a 2001 coupe and when i put my 2 12's back in i noticed a loss in bass which i knew would happen but not this much . Later on i got tired of the big box and extra weight in the car so i sold my 2 12's and decided to get 1 12'' . So i tested out an infinity reference series today in my car and it didn't impress me one bit i also tested a coustic which was even worse. My amp is not the strogest its only 400watt but it powered my 2 12's pretty good before . i donno what is happening i feel like tearing out evrything and goin back to stock . anyone know whats wrong ?

Double and triple check your wiring?
Check the gains on your amp if you are using a differnet HU now, you could need to totally readjust your sytem

Bass is funny. Some days my sub pounds, and other days almost sounds like nothing. I think the weather plays a huge part. I also have dynamat, so it works best at around 70F I think. Also opening the back windows makes the bass completely disappear, so there is something with the dynamics of the car. Try tightening the trunk lid at least to get it tighter. Just turn out those rubber stoppers on the lid.

rear facing, really close to the trunk door. PSSST: in a hatch you have no rear seat muffling the sound. drop the rear seats and let the extra dB flow in
i wouldn't say civic have horrible acoustics, it's all about learning your vehicle and maximizing what you have. sure, some cars are better than others, but generalyzing 28 years of cars into one statement is inadequate

BTW i have 2 12" pioneers with about 150 watts rms nuthin big but it sounds nice
