NEED HELP-Time for a new motor
Well... I found out today that doing a custom turbo kit isn't as easy as i thought. Basically we got everything going but after putting in a new leakless headgasket the timing was way off and we ended up bending most of the valves and possibly damaged the pistons. Oh yeah and if anyone needs any turbo parts let me know I have... T-28 and T3 turbo, equal length manifold (from Turbo Performance), Bosch BOV, Huge Intercooler (also Turbo Performance), and more. Email me with offers or just post here.. Thanks
wow! that REALLY ****in sucks! ... make sure u got the timing belt on correctly next time!
your best bet is a K motor ... they're really cheap now ... well, k20a2's and a3's are. You can get everything for an a2 for about $4-4500 + shipping, then installation fees ... there are plenty of K motors being sold on clubrsx, honda tech and ebay

did that manifold from turbopreformace ( http://www.turbo-performance.com/ )? fit the d17a, it says "2000 and up" but the 2000 civic had a d16 and that manifold wont bolt up. its a really good looking header for a great price and i love the external waste gate, please pm me or post so ill know!! Thanks! -- Jeremy
i would said go for a k series if u are looking for more power or buy a new/used d17.
K-series runs from 3-5k depend on which model (A, A2, or A3)
Or
Pick up a used d17 for like $700 (at the most) to finish up the turbo project.

Shady88-- the mainfold that you are looking at is a lot like mine but mine doesn't have the external wastegate, and not crome, but the overall look is the same.
Thanks for the replies everyone but can I do anything cheaper than $3000-$7000. How much does a head swap go for and maybe some better pistons? I'm going back to school in a few weeks and i don't have that much money.

id say if u dont wanna spend too much then just get a d17. Any K series motor in the end will cost more than 3g's. Prolly be around 5 grand for the SI engine. There is alot more needed than just the motor. Build up a d17 and thorow it back in.
Also what kind of T28 turbo do you have? New or Used or Rebuilt? How much you asking for it?

i'd keep your engine i can find engine(D17A2) tranny and ecu for 800 bucks and thats for one with only 35-45000 miles so you could easily find just the engine for 600 shipped
