Some suggestions for two front speakers + amp
Some suggestions for two front speakers + amp
Can somebody recommend a front speaker + amp combo? I haven't looked that this stuff in a few years and don't know what is good out there. I assume a basic 2-ch amp (w/speaker-level inputs obviously) for the front door speakers would be adequate as the sub has its own mono amp.
Is it advisable to use coaxials in the front doors even though I already have tweeters? Is there already a crossover or something between the front speakers and tweeters?
Are aftermarket 1" tweeters direct plug-and-play?
On my other Acura I had Polk EX602a coaxial 6.5", which were recommended because they are not too deep. What are some 6.5" that are verified to fit into our speaker holes non-invasevely? I'd rather not cut, trim, mangle my sheetmetal (warranty, rust concerns in Canada).

Yeah, it would appear so. Ok, how about a budget of $250 USD. I'm sure I can get something "decent" with that budget? I'm not looking for anything terribly hardcore or high-end. I know most of you guys have pretty high expectations of your audio equipment, so the $250 USD budget for a 2-ch amp and front speakers may sound ridiculous... but there's got to be something that is respectably decent around that much?
Are coaxial speakers even an option? They seem significantly cheaper than a cheap set of components. I already have tweeters up front though...

You should be able to get something within $250. Don't forget that you will need money for wiring/fuse (I'm including that in the $250). You can probably even get components.
Look for $100 amps by:
US Acoustics (get some other opinions on these, though -- I've read several times that they are excellent value, but this was all in the context of sub amps)
Alpine
MTX (not Road Thunder models)
Pioneer
Look for $100 speakers by:
JL Audio
Alpine
Infinity
Polk
Don't buy entry-level speakers by anyone, except maybe JL.
Pick up an 8ga wiring kit from somewhere for ~$20 or so.
I hope you are planning on installing this stuff yourself!

If you want something cheap that sounds good, get some infinity reference 6.5 for the front, and separate tweeters. I have the speakers amped by an alpine 40wx4 and the tweets running off deck power. Sound better than the dolby digital speakers in my room. An eq will also help alot. The deck I have came with a 13 band, and it makes a world of difference.
