HELP! i cut up the stock tweeter pod but still cant get my type r tweeters to fit

ok, i cut up the insides of my tweeter pod but the type r tweeter still wouldnt fint

only way i think it'll go in is if i remove the part with the metal clip but if i cut it off, what will hold the pod to the door?

anyone want to trade tweeters with me? i have a brand new set of alpine type r tweeters with the mounting kit..hehe...some mb quart or infinity tweeters would be great..

yeah but i already bought components...

if i switch, it'll probably have to be a trade for kappa series tweets or mb quart tweeters

i already bought and extra pair of stock pods even though my car already has them...

anyways, i cut one up and the type r tweeter still doesnt fit....it seems that the tweeter is about 1mm too wide so it wont go into the hole from the front. there's also no way i can get it to go in from the back either

Build a bracket and mount the tweeter on the mid range you get better imaging that way anyway. having the distance will be out of phase and will throw off your "stereo triangle", having the tweeter close to the mid will make it alot better but in order to have a true stereo triangle you would have to add a center channel. The distance from the drivers seat to the passengers speakers is alot longer than from the piller on the drivers side and IMO is too close to you and would be off axis. Do the above, it will be alot better.

Buy the regular non-tweeter sail panels and mound the tweeters to the outside. I am guessing they came with cups that attach to the back?

Just get the non-ex sail panels. Slap them on there, and flush mount them in the doors. As irish said, it'd sound better if you kept them within 12 inches of the mid, but hey, if you really want them there, just get some sand paper, or grinder, or something and grind off the excess. Once you do that, use the flush mount pods with them. (Make sure you grind enough for the pods and all, not justthe tweet, unless you want them fixed, so you can't swivel them to your liking/music taste.

somewhat, it throws off the angle and makes it seem futher away to try and equal the distance from both sides. if you were to say mount the pass. side in the doors, mid and tweet together and put the drivers side in the kick panel it would be a big difference than mounting the drivers side in the door.

Righty-o, makes sense.

Personally, I don't like my speakers to be within a direct earshot. I like them to be facing away from me or just not firing directly at me because I don't like to hear where the speakers themselves I only like to hear the sound... if you know what I mean

anyways, i shaved off a tiny bit more of the pod and sanded the tweeter down about 0.5mm...

i'm was able to force the tweeter into the pod...still isnt perfect but decent... the trick was to angle the tweeter then shove it into the pod from the front..hehe...

the alpine tweeters were huge...

i had to do more than just cut out the back piece...i had to use an exacto knife to shave off any excess plastic around the opening...if i didn't, there would be a large gap between the pod and the tweeter...the pod would also look bulgy...the tweeter also had to be forced into the pod...it wasnt an easy drop in...

how does the factory(honda) hook up the tweeters in the EX's anyways?...it is plug and play? or they hook it up with the front door speakers?

i would love to know that.

it's hooked up in parallel with the stock speaker

the tweeter's high pass filter is just a capacitor...there's no large crossovers...

if you you buy aftermarket tweeters, you need a crossover....

Thats exactly the way a system should be, proper placement and adjustment= not knowing where the sound is comming from, I personally like it that way, some people just want it loud, even if its distorted, yuk
