Darknights - 7th gen class POSSIBLE!!
I just looked through the Darknights website to see the classes for competition they will be having this year.
Once again, we will be in the 96-up Civic class.
I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I think its almost impossible to beat the 6th gens since they've had so much more time to mod their cars.
I think it's about time that we have our own category and since it looks like a lot of us are going to have our cars there, a low turn-out of 7th gens should not be an excuse.
I took the liberty to e-mail darknights at info@darknightsnationals.com to express my concern:
"Darknights,
I was just browsing your website for the competition classes you will be having this year. I am disappointed to see that once again, there is not a civic 2001-up class. Is this because there will be a lack of these vehicles entering the competition? As a 2001 Civic owner, I feel it is near impossible to compete against those who have had their civics since 1996, as they have already had 8 years to modify their vehicles. I am a member of the 7thgencivic.com forum and there are many members who feel the same. As of right now, we already have 10 members planning to enter our cars into your show. This will guarantee more 01-up Civics than last year. Hopefully you will understand our situation and create a class for us. Separate mild and wild designations may not be necessary if the turn-out is low, but not having to compete against 96-00 Civics would be amazing!! Thanks for your time and consideration.
Albert"
If you guys feel the same, you should e-mail them again. The more requests they receive for a 01-up civic class, the more likely we are to get one!!
It would be even better if somebody knew one of the top dogs there and spoke to them personally, but e-mails should get their attentions.
E-mail them and help us get recognized!!!

To whomever it may concern;
On your website, I noticed that once again the 7th generation Honda Civic has been placed in the same class as the older models.
I am surprised at this because the older models are drowning in pools of different modifications available in aftermarket. Meanwhile, the potential for our vehicles are still being uncovered.
We have had both less time and aftermarket options that the older civic have had to make our cars worthy of competition.
Thanks for your concern,
Name.

got a response!!
Hey Albert,
How are you doing my friend? My name is Donavan Griffith and I’m the General Manager of the Darknights Nationals. I’m sorry that I’ve taken so long to get back in contact with you as I’ve been having problems with my email. I’ve already sent out an email to Mike telling him that if you guys register 10 cars then I will personally open up a 2001+ Civic Class. Thanks for the input Albert, it’s greatly appreciated. Thanks for your ongoing support and if you have any more questions can you please give me a call at my office.
Sincerely,
Donavan Griffith

Hey Mike,
How are you doing my friend? My name is Donavan Griffith and I’m the General Manager of the Darknights Nationals and in charge of all vehicle registration for this year’s event. I’m sorry that it’s taken me so long to get back in contact with you. I’ve been having problems with my email, that’s why I haven’t been in contact with you sooner. I totally apologize. I have some good news for you Mike. If you can commit those 10 cars that are planning on registering then I will definitely open up a 7th Gen Civic Class. So get back in contact with me asap and I can register you guys myself. I will only charge you $40.00 per vehicle. Give me a call when you get a chance. Thanks for your ongoing support.
Sincerely,
Donavan Griffith

Looks like the G7s actually get their own category, and the hatchbacks are seperate also!
