Catalitic Convertor is Toast. What are my options?

My car just recently had the CEL come on and threw a P0420 code. Now the convertor seems to make a badass noise like a loud exhaust leak.It only does it when the car is warmed up and i give it alot of gas. Even my exhaust tone has changed to somewhat quieter than is used to be. A new Cat is $200 and thats a chunk of change. So what will it hurt to run without the cat??? What power loss will i be looking at or any other problems? Or should i go ahead and buy a new cat? My exhaust now is just a high flow rear muffler without a resonator. Thanks.

Buy a new cat. You will be sorry without it in a little 4 banger that is not modified heavy. You will have less low end torque than you already have.

i def. think you should get another cat. shouldn't cost that much if you go to a salvage yard.

Well guys, it was indeed the cat.. I took the cat off and the whole inside was in hundred of pieces. I don't see how the hell I was even driving my car. No biggie now, since it has all been gutted out and breaths easy now. Thanks

get a high flow one. an oem honda replacement is about 800 dollars. because the insides are made of platinum. waste of money imo.

Go to the dealer and tell them to replace it, it's covered for 8 years and 80,000 miles under warranty.
