My bodyman painted my CF hood
Ok, i took my CF hood to my bodyman to get installed and he painted it the stock color. I didn't talk to him yet cuz i picked it up after he left. I know i know, u ppl are gonna say, wtf did he do that for. But he his in his 40's and prolly never did a CF hood b4. His work is flawless and the man can paint. Anywayz, do u think he could sand it down and re-clear it without messing up the CF ????
It is kinda my fault cuz i assumed he knew that i didn't want it painted......but it is too late now

i know if i got a carbon fiber hood i'd paint it. When i see cars with carbon fiber hoods from a distance it looks like they wrecked their car and didn't get the hood painted yet.

Me too. I say leave it painted. The guy did you a favor cause now the car still looks nice but less weight. Either way, you can't really just take the paint off. I'm sure he sanded it to make the paint stick anyway.

Well... if you wanted it for the looks... then try to find out if theres a way to show that it is carbonfiber by sanding part of it or something... I don't know... I'm just throwing out some ideas...
if I could afford it, I'd take an already painted cf hood...

for the record: I know nothing of CF hood manufacture, but I can say that with planes, they rough the epoxy enough to get paint system to adhere and thats the end of story. When(if) repainting its only roughed down to the primer or epoxy layer, which is still rough underneath it all so the paint or coating sticks...and adding cc to scarred epoxy prolly won't look right.
What Im getting at is that besides the 'can it be done' aspect, the amount of his time it would take is probably triple what it took him to do it in the firstplace. So if you plan on pressing him for this miscommunication/misunderstanding, a new hood is probably the cheapest alternative for all parties involved.
