i have a little over $1,000. i want to get the Tein SS coilovers, but i'm curious as to what everyone thinks is a good buy. does the Tein ss coilover setup work really well? does it feel really tight and handle well? also, if i get the tein ss coilovers, do i need to get camber correction kit?
is there another suspension setup that you recommend that works really really well? thanks.

Honestly if i had 1k to spend i would go with Hayames and a SPC camber kit....that's how my setup will eventually be anyways....then you have a couple hundred left!!
hayames made too much noise along with the pop(in the front). I would give D2($850) a try since it offered much more than tein($1050+extra for upper mount and bearing). You also need to get a rear camber kit(125) and alignment (60).

i don't need the upper mount if i have an 01 right? i'm actually kind of worried that i might have to pay to have the coilovers installed. my brother's car is in the garage and doesn't run right now. i don't have a flat area to work with... if i take it in to get installed, what should i expect to be charged (in so cal)?
thanks
thanks
you should really try find a local who will install it for like half the price. of course he or she would have to be expeirenced with suspension.
if i had 1g, i would go for hayame because from the review, they seemed pretty good for its price. tein does offer more along with the other full coilover sets (b&g, d2, etc)but i like to save money.
if you plan to make a big use out of your car, like autocross, drag, etc. maybe the other coilovers would be your better choice over the hayame. i just use my car daily to get here and their so hayame sits me best.
goodluck finding out what you want and hope you enjoy your new suspension because suspension is a buttload of money.

If your car is a daily driver the damper adjustment is an awesome feature. I have TeinSS and mine are set almost at full soft setting and the ride is amazing..... its rides ebtter then stock. When the road is somewhat smooth it literally feels liek your own the road. Even with my damper set at really soft the car corners really really well.
Best mod I spent my money on..... you will not regret. I dropped maybe about 2 inches and my rear wheels have a little camber on them, not too much.... I'm getting a camber kit real soon.
I also believe the front Teins dont need a camber kit, only the back.

i'm not really looking for driving comfort as much as i am better handling.
which is the best buy? D2, or Tein SS?
ps - it looks like i'll be able to use my garage to do the install afterall.

i would just go with the tein basic and a camber kit from Robear, thats the best wqay to go. You'll really need a camber kit if you dont wanna trash your tires real quick. The basic are good for auto X, i don't have the damper ajusting and i never need it

A better deal would be D2 but their reliability has yet to be seen. I would trust tein. It is an easy install. Get camber kits from danscreations and get an alignment after about a week or so with them on and settled. Make sure you have the height where you want it before getting an alignment or you will have to go back to get another one like me

In response to cryption about the adjustable dampening. If you get your car corner balanced after the install then adjustable dampening is just an accessory. I know I have changed my dampening in the middle of races. Each race is different; different track, different turns, etc. and each track requires your car to do something different so having the adjustability has helped me.
