Traditionally, Nology hotwires are simply grounded plug wires. They have a grounding strap which runs most of the length of the wire itself. This grounding strap also acts as a sheild from interferance.

The end result of these wires is to produce a hotter, larger spark through more efficient channeling of spark voltages.

They -can- make a difference, but mostly in older engines that have the tendancy to run rich and/or don't have as-stratified intake charges or in cars with programable engine management and a beefed-up fuel system.

If you're a DIY *****, you can contact the parts shops at your local airport and buy yourself kits to ground your current plug wires or build new grounded plug wires. They've been using grounded wires in cylinder-powered aircraft for years...

The new D and K series are coil on plug. They dont have plug wires. unless, of course, you wanted to convert to a coil pack or individual coil per cylinder, similar to the setup used on the white/blue drag SRT-4.
