interesting.. im glad i have a 2001... damn this car could be so much faster
Actually the K series motor weighs about the same as a B16. Its about 80lbs lights than an H22. So weight would actually be better on the K20A2 than the legal B18 GSR motor swap.
And what are you talkin about the B-series sounds better? You talking about VTEC? The K20A2 gives the same scream when 6000rpms rolls around. Infact, you hear it more on a K motor with a CAI than you do with a B motor with CAI. I like the louder, meaner sound of the K motor, but maybe thats just me.

just because they're cheaper and there's a bigger aftermarket support for them doesn't necessarily mean they're better... it's just because b-series motors have been around for a lot longer... most people are probably waiting for the price of k-series motors to go down and for more parts to be released and by that time we'll see...

yea thats like waiting for tokico to come out with struts for our car.
its gonna happen.
... just wayyyy after u sell ur car-
The price of a K20A2 has gone down a bunch already. You can pick one up for about $3500 if you know where to look. Considering that JDM B18C5s are going for close to $5000 and offers nothing different that would be better over the K20A2, I think its a pretty good deal on the K. I doubt the cost of a K20A2 will ever reach the low of a B16 if thats what you are waiting for. Theres far too much demand, and potential on the K20A2 for it to be dropped that much. Thats like waiting for the price of a full HKS Turbo setup to drop in price like 50%, just not gonna happen. Now I can undedrstand that you might be waiting for the price of the swap components to come down. I agree $600 is a little steap for mounts, but dont expect those to go down in price very much. I got my HASport mounts at cost, and they still cost me $525+shipping, so they arent making a boat load on them as it is.

on the b series being better than the k, theres a reason hasport is putting k's in every car now.... Theres a reason almost every aftermarket company has a project RSX or SI.
The people with b series motors only could of dreamed of having as much aftermarket parts available in the first 2 years of its life as the k people do now.

IMO, the K series is the motor of the future, but the B & H series are still the motors of the present. You can find at least 5 vendors for every performance part there is. You can get dry sump oil pans, darton blocks, cranks, rods out the wazoo. You can build a reliable 600 HP B series from "off the shelf" parts. A B-series longblock is only abour $700 and you can find them anywhere.
Once there is a good supply of both used K engines and performance parts, then it will drive the B & H series motors to their graves. But it's not at that point yet. It will be, but just not yet.
