Rear/back license plate holder...
Hi Guys,
it's me again, I actually got a quick question..
I just recently bought my 02 Civic. Now, the crappy guy in my dealer who supposedly screw my license plate, he basically screwed the crap out of my car.
Now, I'm talking about the rear/back license plate...as u guys know, there are two screw nut which u supposely tighen ur license plate on. Now, this guy used a wrong screw
Basically, after spending few days with my car...i went to wallie-mart and bought a license plate holder.....ta-da, i got a surprise when i check the nut. guess what, it was busted. Now, I can't use the original license plate screw from Honda...
I've done some research and asking the dudes in the Honda dealer that the nut was basically welded into the body..
anybody know how to fix it?
lease: maybe my creating a new thread in the screw nut? Or....changing the nut if it is possible?
any help greatly appreciated!
Thanx
Ticoalu

Wow. . That kinda sucks the guy that messed it up, did you talk to him or his boss?
I'm really not sure how those are attached to the body I don't know if they are drilled in, or welded in, or both.
You can try and rethread it and/or use a bigger screw.
Will the plate stay without both screws in? If you don't need 2 then don't worry about it.
Maybe there is another way to fasten that side of the license plate to the car. Like a magnet, or velcro (sounds really stupid, but it might work, lol)
I assume, worst case scenario you could drill the little peice out of the trunk lid. Replace it with another one and weld it in there.

Well2...
right now, making a new screw thread is the only logical way to fix this prob...
that supposely means that I need to go to Sears to buy a new-screw-thread point driller and run it into my car.....gee...
I actually temporarily fix this problem by forcing the original screw into the nut. Hoping that this way will create a new thread, however it did the job in a different way. Now the forced-screw became a new screw with a different thread... I could only forced it like 3/4 way into the nut... damn, there are still plenty space from the screw outside the nut.
I tricked this situation by adding a "padding" from a double tape kinda thing, so that it actually tighen my license plate.
Oh jeez...u guyz better be careful when buying a used car from a different dealer (buying a used honda in toyota dealer), it's probably better for u to be the one who install the license plate....not them...
