Gains are minimal if none putting a aftermarket muffler on your stock piping is more just for sound than anything . But the sound is very quiet well depending on muffler but most of them will be quiet .
so if your trying to get horespower gains then get the muffler and at the same time have custom 2,25 inch piping from the cat back made at the same time

When I got my full cat back from tusdo I felt like it pulled just a little bit more in the top end!
I got mine for 300 shipped from ebay.
YA just the muffler wont do much at all but, having all new piping is better.

^^ It can be shitty sounding, depending on what kind of muffler you get. I mean if you buy one from ebay then yeah its gonna sound like crap. Theres nothing worse than hearing a loud obnoxious muffler when it produces nothing but sound. Get something quiet during normal driving, but noticable at high RPM's.
HKS - JDMmmmmmmmm!
Hey lid, isn't the Tsudo like 2.5" piping? Did you lose low end then?

there really is not much horsepower gain, people tell me extra 10 but i personally think thats bull. i have hp racing on my car on stock pipings. it sounds incredibly nice to me. it's one of those low deep sounds, not to loud. i can't feel the power tho. trying to get rid of it coz i want full. looking for something tilted, any brands you guys know that are tilted?
I have a muffler on my stock pipe, the sound is ok but I still want it a little louder, So I might put some 2.25" piping. Should I take off the resonator ????? can anybody answer that for me. thanks.

Stock piping and removing the resonator will sound terrible. It will be loud, high pitched, and obnoxious. I recommend getting a full cat back or get 2.25" piping and a resonator if you are looking for performance and a setup that does not sound ricey.
ok i have a question... i want to get the HKS muffler but they dont make the piping...will the muffler bolt right on to the stock piping with any problems? what the hell is a axle back?
you can find it in other threadssss .... try robear racing thats where i got mine... www.robearracing.com

i have the HP Racing axle back with stock piping. it really is just for the sound, although you do lose some low end torque. i thought the stock torque was just a little bit jumpy, so i like it this way. there are very minimal mid/high gains....VERY minimal...just enough to notice that you dont lag as much as before.
mine doesnt sound bad at all. its not loud, its deep. when you rev you really hear the engine more but you notice the exhaust also. at 3k RPM the sound is most noticeable.
this is mine...bad quality pic...sorry...the others are too big and im too lazy to resize.

You can get a mufler and keep you stock piping, and it wont sound bad. I have a magnaflow muffler with stock pipe and it sounds fine. The sounds are coming from the baffels insinde the muffler. Different mufflers are going to give you a different sound.

aznstylez254 - Welcome to the HKS family. If I knew how I would make a sig, but i'm not good at that stuff. Glad you're happy with it. Where'd you get it from?

I got a muffler from a local shop here and had 2.5 piping from the cat. back put on but now I have the ceramic header, hks downpipe and NO cat, mine sounds pretty beefy and gets a lot of attention when I punch it. Their is absolutely no restiction on my exhaust and its a lot better than getting just cat back exhaust. I say get the full exhaust: header, high flow cat, cat back piping, and you're done. And an 02 sim.
