Question Where to buy oil?

I have 4k miles since my last oil change, and I'm starting to look into oil. I could have a shop do it, but I figure it'll be cheaper to do it myself and I'll learn some more about my car (always a good thing). So my question is, where would I get the materials? I want to switch over to synthetic 5w20, and I was thinking one of the following: Amsoil, Castrol, Royal Purple, or Mobil 1. I would also need an oil filter; but do 'performance' oil filters really do anything? I'm just looking for where I can get all this stuff for relatively cheap. Thanks.

the honda oil that is in your ride is synthetic...but honda sells 0W-20 oil and filters...hparts.com....i personally use 0W-20 Mobile 1 in my car..in colder weather, the lower the weight, the better. and vise versa in the summer...i would recommend the mobile one, but if your budget doesn't allow...(about 4.75 qt.)...the honda oil on that site is fairly cheap(i think 2.70 or something like that)...hope that gives you a little info

ok. I think I'll spend a bit more and use the non-honda stuff. The idea is that my dad would pay $35 or so for someone else to put conventional oil in, so why not have him pay $35 for the supplies that I need to put in synthetic myself?

Anyone know anything about the filters?

BJ's sells boxes of Mobil 1 pretty cheep, cause it's in bulk. I think it's like $25 for 25 quarts or somethinig like that, but don't quote me on the price. In VA you might have luck at Cosco.

ok; the only place I've looked so far is AutoZone, and there it's around $5/quart for synthetic, and $2.99 and up for filters

I used to be an AMSOil dealer and have used it in my car since I got it. But on my next change I am switching to Mobile 1. Many of the guys on my other car bbs use it in their cars and they are running nicer vehicles like Vettes, NSX's, M3s, etc. So I figure it's gotta be good if they trust it.

I like AMSOil but honestly I hate the idea that even with my dealer discount I am still paying a huge amount for my oil and filter. (like 40 or so for an oil change that I do myself is just too much)

As far as filters go, don't skimp and do a cheapo one. This filter is what stands between your engine being a running engine and a very expensive large paper weight.

When I removed the stock filter, I used a Fram DG (About $4) because I could not find any filter to fit my car at the time. Next few times I changed, I used a AMSOil filter ($14) and my next one will problby either be a Mobile 1 filter or K&N.
