Question N/A D17 Numbers?

hey, i was wondering if anyone has dynoed a naturally aspirated d17? im talking intake/exhaust, pistons, PnP, that kinda stuff. please post some numbers or at least estimates? or maybe if uve just done a few things along these lines and dynoed, post too and dont forget to list your mods. thanks to everyone who posts. and to those who will post to either do a swap or a turbo dont even think about it, im going n/a. i dont feel like driving a turbo with a D17 attached to it, nor do i feel like spending 7k to do a swap when i couldve just bought a rsx. there are reasons i didnt.

with i/h/e, i think some EXs were dynoing like 125 whp or so. Stock whp on an EX is like 110.

dynos are inconsistent...you'd have to take a large # of dynos and take the mean to get a general idea of what kinda gains to expect. 125 was probably a lucky shot... again, our d17's are made for MILEAGE not power, so bolt ons don't do sh*t for us.

Dont underestimate our humble d17s boltons will work when they are used in conjunction with a decent pnp and bored pistons and such. The nice thing about our cars is that they are greatly underestimated but have great potential when done correctly.

and let me guess that D16's and some other honda engines that were made only for mileage don't make any HP at all? and motor can be made to make horsepower,it just takes time for manufacturers to make parts for our engine. It hasent been around that long.

thanks

thanks to everyone for the replies, and please keep posting what you think. also, i was just wondering, what does "balancing and blueprinting" and engine actually mean? everyone keeps telling everyone else to do this, and have never actually heard of what this is.

balancing and bluprinting is basically a rebuild where tolerances are tightened.... all moving parts are made to be exactly the same weight.... clearances are all tightened etc.... makes the engine vibrate less, spin a little more freely, and gives a solid platform for tuning and abusing your car

The D17 is actually a pretty nice platform to start on. By sticking to N/A, you could probably get up to a decent 160-170WHP. It may cost you about 3K, but I'd say it's worth it. Not too many people take this road. If I had the money, I'd do it. I don't like the idea of maintaining a turbo all the time and I definitely don't have the cash for a swap.. yet.

i actually read another post on the forums and the guy said he had about 250hp N/A, so thats what ill be shooting for. and about the balancing and blueprinting, if i get lightened parts from some company, and higher compression pistons and all that, would i still need to balance/blueprint the engine?
