CLEAN oil filter removal?

I just Droped all the oil out of my pan and opened up the oil fill cap to make sure there wasn't any vacum. Then I removed the oil filter and oil went every where. Is there any way to remove the filter with out making any mess?

Just give it a few spins to break the seal and let it run out. When its only dripping then finish taking it off.

This is halfway related...I am thinking about moving the oil filter so that I wouldn't have to deal with the mess each and every time. Does anyone know if there is a filter relocation kit for our cars or what size filter mounts (need inside and outside diameter)

the oil doesn't make a "big" mess. just let it drain for a while thru the plug hole and most of the oil will leave out of the filter. keep a rag handy and it just wipes away.

Me and my friend put grocery bags around the filter and around the surrounding metal/opening/area and then unscrew it. The oil bursts into the bag and then u just bag it and go. Simple.

Kind of like those poop bags that horses in horse carriages in the city have.
