XM anyone?
Anyone have XM radio in their car? I just bought a Roadie, and...
I totally love it!
Looking for some clever install ideas.

I had XM for two weeks and my pioneer receiver just died. Biggest waste of money. I used a direct connection to a pioneer deck and the quality was much worse than cd and even radio. But that's over now. Channels weren't my thing, either. Maybe a few good ones.
If you want a clean install, you can put it under the cardboard in the trunk so it's hidden. I mounted my antenna in the middle of the rear deck, and quality was just as good as outside on the roof.

I was wondering about putting the antenna on the rear deck.... it does appear to work just fine. I like the XM. Yeah, it's compressed audio, but I really don't care so much. I can always pop in a CD. The XM is just for variety that I don't have or own. It sounds about the same as MP3 to me.
I just got XM Radio with my Alpine XM ready reciever and the Alpine XM Tuner. I like it so far. I think the quality is great and I find it very nice for when I travel back and forth to college. The only thing that I don't like about the whole setup is not with the radio, but my HU. I wish there could be more ways to store stations, I don't think the 12 stations that I can store on XM1 and XM2 is enough, so im probably missing alot of good music not programed to my HU.
ZSK, you have an Alpine 7893 right? You know if you hit the "play" button while you are tuned to XM you can then use the track forward and backward buttons to pick the type of music you want to tune into?
As to the original question, I LOVE my XM. Those of you getting poor sound quality must be doing something wrong; mine sounds almost CD quality.

Ive got XM and i love it! Had it for about 8 months now. Its great for long road trips, no changing stations. And even better, starting Feb 1, it will all (the music channels) go commercial free! Best $10 i spend each month.

DAMN Right!!!! Sirius all the way baby!!!!
Right Mystic????
Havok and I, after comparing the two services in our cars, have reached the conclusion that they are pretty much the same as far as SQ goes, content is pretty close with minor differences. ::shrugs:: It doesnt really matter what you get, the only reason he got sirius was because his HU is kenwood and the only reason I got XM was because my HU is alpine.

For me it's down to the 9.99 for the first unit and 6.99 for another. XM costs less, for now. I guess time will tell on both services. In the meantime, I ordered an adaptor that runs my Alpine changer AND the XM on the same bus. $119 for the Roadie wasn't bad either.

I would also like to add, that Havok and I have the exact same speakers, and our amplifers highpass filters are on the same frequency, so we have a pretty good setting for comparison.
