hooking up a n alpine cva-1006 to factory head unit. Is this possible?

i purchased an alpine cva-1006 and i was thinking about installing this so i can run my factory deck for my radio and cds but use the aftermarket so i can use a dvd player under the seat and be able to watch them without messing with my factory deck. Is it possible to have both of them running and working with each other. Kinda like a cd changer hooking into the factory head unit and turning the channel to 88.1 so it can recieve the input. Please someone help me or just tell me that i am an idiot.

the dvd player would be under the seat, the flip out screen with fm would be in the dash. I dont want to get an indash dvd player. To tacky for me i think. id rather have it under the seat. Trying to get a ps2 for it. and thats what i am looking in the future at. To bad the flip out doesnt have the all in one deal with the dvd cd mps player built in it. Too much for me
