UPDATE: Too many people linking/clicking.... The neons.org forums now require you to register, and the pics are now offline. If you have the pics, please post em.
Hot off the presses... I've heard that alot of people have heard alot of stories about people getting killed in the SRT because they can't control the fricken car....
If you read this post, another guy says he rolled his Neon twice and had major facial injuries... WTF??
No head safety in Neons?!

thursday around 2pm, I was test driving my soon to be new 04 srt-4 from a local dealership.I switched places with the salesmen to return to the lot. The salesmen was behind the wheel driving down Earliesville Rd. He was going way too fast and lost control, going through a fence then rolling the car 4 times. The result..A few stiches in his face and some cut and brusies. Me on the other hand wasnt so lucky. The fence rail went though the front windshield, hit me in the face, pealing my face from the nose to my ear away from my scull. I lost so much blood in the car before I was pulled out, I almost died on the scene. After 3 days in the hospital, 2 plastic surguries, and masive nerve grafting I am home tonight. I look like the freekin eliphant man.My family and I ask to pray for us, as My recovery is FAR from over. Here are the pics.. some are graffic.

That's why I drive the other way when I see one coming. Almost every time there's a teen behind the wheel trying to race and get people killed.

WOW! Thats terrible. Law suit is right!
Similar thing happened to me a few years back with an Integra but when the car rolled the Fence post came into the windshield and hit the roof that caved in around me. I was lucky to walk away from that one.
I saw one of those cars behind me on the weekend and then it blew past me. Looks cool from the front but its still too much like a neon.
I would love to Test Drive one but now Im kinda scared after seeing this.
Best of Luck to the guy and I hope he has a speedy recovery.

You KNOW this is an extremely powerful yet light FWD car... yet people drive like fu*king a$sholes with it. Even the salesmen... they get a kick out of it just like everyone else, and want to impress the young buck sitting in beside him.
Well he can:
1) Kiss his career goodbye.
2) Kiss his girlfriend goodbye... who's gonna date your ugly *** now
A single car accident can fu*k you up... it's up to you to decide. I do feel sorry for the passenger of this accident though..... either way, it's a tragedity.

Does anyone have the pics???
Can anyone go through their IE cache directory, and see if they still have a cached copy? The guy that was hosting took the pics off, or made them private...
I checked my cache, and only have this one pic.... The other two bloody pics I can't find.

The car is not the problem. the problems are the people behind the wheels, who cant control the cars after certain speed on certain roads. if you are driving well over the posted limit on curvy roads and dont have the experience it does not matter what kind of car you are driving you are bound to loose control of the vehicle and possibly wreck the car. in this kids case a part of a fence went troguh the windshield, so guess what regardless of the car you are driving anything can go trough the windshield and severly injure you..

I'm got rid of my 2k2 Civic Si Rubbermaid Special and got an SRT.
To all you here to diss the hunk of steel that is the SRT-4, I have two very strong words for you:
**** off.
"When are they actually gonna investigate that piece of ****. This is about the 10th story I've seen like this is in a very short period of time."
It's attitudes like yours Pharoh that made me finally decide to ditch my Civic. The community that drives these cars is made up of showmanship *******s, and people whose sole goal in life is to one-up the guy next to them. The very people most of you claim is driving these cars we see wrecked on here. SRT, Integra, etc... show me one single person who has never even tried to race someone from a green. Anyone who claims they don't street race at all is full of ****, and I'm sick of it. You may take it up to the speed limit and let off the gas, but we all race. Some of us know when to call it quits, and some of us don't have the brain capacity to **** in a straight line, let alone drive a high-power car in one. The problem here is that these immensely powerful cars are becoming available to the "Average Joe"... so naturally we're going to see the # of dumbasses crashing them rise. Even professionals make mistakes and wreck. You think you’re perfect? You think you can drive flawlessly? Wake the **** up. You can make any argument you want – that’s the flaw of the internet. The immensity of the knowledge on it can be twisted and warped to any one person’s perspective. Throw in the ability to send pictures real-time from anywhere in the world, and there you go. I could dig up THOUSANDS of wrecked Honda's, JDMs, etc. Does this mean they're deathtraps? Does this mean the cars are possessed by a strange power from a passing comet and take on minds of their own and try to kill us? I could write up a very long thesis on the numbers of people who get killed in street-racing… regardless of what they’re driving.
Reality check. The SRT is the most powerful sport-compact from the factory available to the public… at a price point that most of these “teen-aged maniacs” can afford. So stop bitching about it. I don’t want to have to look 10000 bucks above the range of compacts are in to get that kind of performance, and I don’t want to be one of these gangsta-motha-fukas driving a dropped civic with bolt-ons galore just to be able to keep up to the SRT. Cars like that are a dime a dozen.
The truth here is, you rice-boys are scared shitless and in quite a bit of awe that Dodge would be the only one to have the ***** to put something like the SRT on the streets, equipped as it is from the factory... STOCK. From the number of posts on here ranging from "2005 Civic Turbo?!" to "RSX-Type R A-Spec S-Type", you guys know what I'm talking about... you're just living in denial. And then have the additional nut-sack capacity to leave the default warranty on it. “It’s gonna need that warranty… it’s a NEON!” you might say… yeah. Chrysler wants to lose money. That makes sense. You’re all hiding behind your "Honda reliability" and "domestics are crap, and Neons will fall apart" billboards while JD Power and other groups are finding that even shitty manufacturers (cough.... GM.. cough...) are pulling their bootstraps up. I dare anyone here to find a new car sold today that is sub-par. I'm not talking about who's cup-holders won't fit a Big Gulp or who offers the best NAV system... I'm talking about the ability to turn the key, drive off the lot, and for the first 5 years have no major problems on average. You wanna know what” I’ve owned GMs, Hondas, and now an SRT, and there is no way in hell I’d ever by a Honda product again. The ****ing car rattles like a pair of maracas, and the worst thing I do to it is forget to slow to an absolute stop when going over speed bumps. Honda reliability?! Honda quality? New terms that should rank up there with military intelligence. My manufacturer loyalty has just run out.
I’m tired of the fact that just because I drive a nicely kept, fully loaded Honda that’s always sparking clean… everybody assumes I’m looking for a race. It’s the community in general that creates this atmosphere of competition and recklessness – and when I’m driving home from work with the kids strapped in the back seat and people cutting me off and driving aggressively around… I don’t need that. I’ve been in the SRT community for a while now, and they should stand as an example of how an online car community should be. We give the thumbs-up to other SRTs we see. We don’t have to push hard to get the VTEC to kick-in just so some noise emanates out the back. WE HAVE FOUR DOORS. And from everything I’ve heard, from forum posts to yacking with buddies who drive SRTs to just plain buddies… the SRT is respected. You don’t have to prove anything with it. Which is exactly what I want. Without having to buy an SUV, or drop $$$$ on a G35 SC or something similar.
Reminds me of a guy who posted his wrecked SRT photos on the net; got hit by a red-light-runner. Within the day the pics were up at another forum with the heading “Another SRT wrecked by street-racing”. Admit it – the SRT ****-rapes most of you here, and you’re all a little pissed about it. Stop holding Honda in such high regard… to be completely honest I was phased by the glitter off the emblem on the grill at first… then somewhere along the line I woke up and realized that I want to drive something that not everybody else has 2 of, something that I don’t HAVE to prove anything in.
Bitter? Me?
Mad? Me?
Yeah. A little.
You think I’m preaching from a high tree here? Think I’m off my rocker? Guess what… I don’t give a royal rat’s *** what you guys think. I want an SRT because of it’s limited availability, stock numbers, and low problem rate. Civics rattle like ****. SE-R V-Specs burn oil. Mazdaspeeds have tranny problems and don’t even get me started on the SVT Focus and Toyota will one day wake up like Honda will and realize that they need to catch up.
Oh.. and next time, READ THE ****ING STORY and stop assuming. The SRT has a roll cage, and the passenger compartment stayed intact from what I've read - otherwise they'd both be in traction.
I’ve traded rice for wheat. Kiss my ***.

Did you ever think that it's because these cars have such "amazing power" that people like you go out and buy them? Maybe due to the motivation to go out and just kill our 115hp civics at a stop light. I believe two people above you said it wasn't the car, it was the driver, I agree with that 100% but has anyone seen an accident report or investigation? How does anyone know that something on the car didn't mess up causing that acccident? No one does know so everyone is jumping to conclusions, sure he said the guy was going too fast but there could've been multiple contributing factors, or it could've just been the driver plain and simple.
You know what there is no need to come on here and tell us how much Civics suck. If we had the same thoughts that you have we wouldn't have bought the car in the first place, but obviously we're an online community of people who like our cars and devote a lot of time to them. We know they come stock with 115hp, we knew that when we went in to buy them but it didn't stop us. There are a lot of people on here that put in a lot of time to boost that horsepower and I bet that quite a few of them would leave you in the dust.
We don't go out looking for street races, when I'm at the stop light with someone and they want to street race me I just look at them and laugh thinking "****, if your Mustang can't beat my Civic then I think we've got a problem" I can honestly say I've never been in a street race in the almost 2 years I've had my car, sure I drive fast on the highways and when it's safe to do so, but I don't see any point in going 100km/h just to race to the next stop light.
It seems like you put a lot of thought into your post, but there is no need to come on and bash Civics. Feel free to tell us how much you like your SRT and be happy with that.
EDIT: Sorry for jumping around so much to different topics

*sigh*
Did you even read my post civicstyle82? Probably not all the way through. One of the reasons I got my SRT was BECAUSE of the stock power. BECAUSE of the stock numbers. I don't want to spend my time and money and weekends and mortgage payments on upgrading my Civic like a 4 year old Pentium II. That's some people's vibe, not mine. What I was attacking is that the majority of you seem to be in denial about the Civic - you're like Linux users. No matter how many flaws they find in Linux, you'll find some way to make excuses and still claim that Microsoft is the bane of the earth.
Got my point? Good.
And no, I didn't put any thought into my posts - I never do. I shoot straight from the hip - most of the time because something that someone else has posted either gets me motivated enough, or infuriated enough to say something in response. I type in a straight line - start to finish. I also tend to drive in a straight line too. I clock 50000kms on my car PER YEAR. I know its limits, I know it's power. I never try to reach those limits totally. I don't want the Civic because I have to push it to the wall every time just to keep up to 1/2 ton Silverados. I don't want the Civic because it's already rusting, because it's already falling part, and because I'm sick of the atmosphere that comes with it. Every other Civic driver wants to race me from the get-go. Whether or not my engine's still cold, kids in the back, lumber strapped to the roof, whatever. The SRT is different. I get thumbs-up from other people on the road. People slow down to let me merge in. HOLY ****! So yeah, I'm not sorry to kiss the Honda-club goodbye. <waves>
And no, when I got my Civic I thought it was the cat's ***. Sweet ride, awesome interior, kickass gas mileage. Then the kid next-door got one. Then the guy down the street. Then four of us started to park together at work - and battle for the spot closest to the door even though it was assigned to my staff.
It was the two years since that I've learned to really dislike my car. Not hate it - too many fond memories. But hate the attitude that comes with it.
I call bullshit that you've never raced - even gunning it from a stoplight in the right lane that merges over in the next block to get in front of the guy in the left lane counts buddy - don't kid yourself. I'm just tired that 95% of the vehicles on the road block me from doing so.
There we go. Typed from start to finish without relevant thought or process... just straight from the mind through the fingers to the screen. Oh yeah.... copy and paste to Word for spell check
Ah… the sun’s out. Time to co cruising. It’s been a long time since I could enjoy that.
So.... in case you don't want to read this one through again... ummm... blah on you!
***** Edit ******
DragonAce; age means jack **** to me. Earn your respect - it don't come prepackaged because of numbers on a drivers license. People who have to state they are X older than everyone else have a lame excuse - I don't use it and neither should you daddy-o.

there ya go assumin' again..
never did i say that my age was a factor in my decisions..trust me, it wasn't meant to impress anything but "time on the road"..
it was to put across that in my many years of driving, not once have i chosen to race any one..
heh heh, seriously, seeking respect from people is one of the last things on my priority list

It's funny that I've never had any problems with people wanting to race me or me trying to race anyone anytime I've ever been in Kelowna and I've been there a ton of times since I bought my Civic, I actually bought my Civic at Harmony. Maybe I'm just never there at the right time though eh?

yet another netfighter, driving a Dodge, that is on a Honda board. Haha, people like you make me laugh. You tell us off, then you continue to surf our boards. Who is in denial now? Call it the SRT 4 or the SX 2.0, whatever you want to call it, its still a Neon. Your brakes will still continue to squeak, and you'll probably blow your head gasket just like the rest of them. Granted they are more powerful stock, but why do you need power with "kids strapped in the backseat"? Who is the dumbass now?
You want to talk like you're all smart and bull **** people to the point that reading your response is exhausting, because of the lack of relevant information? Go ahead, do it up but your true intelligence has prevailed.
BTW: The reason they are limited in quanitiy is because Dodge is finally trying to get another car besides the Viper to actually hold some type of respectable resale value. Its not because they are an exotic/rare/breaking technology kind of car, the resale value on them has traditionally sucked-sweaty-monkey-nuts, so this is their only mode of combat.
Also, do I get a trophy like you for writing from start to finish like a champion too? I didn't even 'copy and paste to Word", sucka.

i already came to the dipshyt conclusion on my own

complains about our apparent un-educated perceptions regarding the dodge but hammers on the 'vic a sentence later....
shyt, if it wasn't for the viper Dodge would be owned by Honda by now (tho didn't i hear about that somewhere before?? the potential buy-out i mean..)

All I hear is blah blah blah.
Must be those pesky tailpipes drowning you boys out. Drowns out all that white noise coming from behind me.
Ah yes - the avatar kings come out of the woodwork. Man you guys are amusing when you're flamed. Ya know, stickers don't make your car faster... so why do you think stickers make your posts cooler?
I could have said I had a VW R32 or even an STi and you guys would have flamed the **** outta me. Get a wake up call. Squeaky brakes? Blown head gasket? Hmm.... let's do a search on the 7th gen forums and see what we come up with with those, shall we? Who's the hippocryte now? Ah screw the spellcheck - I have better things to do that dwell on forums when the sun's a shining! Time to put the winter tires in the closet! Woo-hoo spring!
You guys are hilarious. I should come on here and flame regularily when I want a good laugh without dredging through my inbox. After banging my head against the wall with dealing with my dealer (not Harmony by the way - those guys would steal the underwear off your *** if you gave them the chance) and venting and ranting and raving about the stinky lemon that was in my driveway, I'm happy with what I have. And all your little pot-shots ain't gonna put a dent in my attitude at all - because that's all they are; pot-shots.
Now be good sports and continue make even more assinine comments about Honda owning the earth if it wasn't for blah blah.
Ooops - there's those pesky tailpipes again!
