aftermarket keyless entry troubles

My parents own a mercury villager and I tried to get keyless entry installed on it for her for a x-mas gift. For some reason though when you walk away from the vehicle and leave it sit for a while when you come back to it you have to press the lock button and then the unlock button to get it to work properly. If you just press the unlock button it does not work. Any thoughts?

Ford and Mercury have "sleeper" or as they call it SLAM locks. What happens is after 3 minutes of inactivity they dont work anymore, not even the switch inside the car. When installing an aftermarket keyless system you have to pulse both the unlock wire and the door pin wire so it reactivates the locks or "wakes them" just make sure that they are diode isolated.
