LT would best answer this......but i have the xr's and the tweeter has a nice soft sound, not too harsh.

i have been dissapointed my my past JL's, and think they are overrated... on the other hand, i love focals (in my last car, and my freinds)- i vote for the focals- easily

I have the JL XR650 csi. I like em. I have had no other speaker though except for the stock so I haven't anything to compare it too. I'm very happy with my purchase though, I recommend them.

if you're looking for a good broad spectrum of highs and lows go with the Focals, they have good seperation for this. IMO their tweeters are superior to JL's. For subs go with JL's

jl and focal in the component department are like 2 polar opposites.

the jl's are as smooth as can be, very laid back, and a just generally warm sounding speaker.

the focals are bright, harsh, loud , and very very very detailed.

the choice between teh 2 should be quite easy with a description like that

theyve both got it there, but midbass response is a big part of how good you install them.

install.. are the doors sound deadened, will they be mounted securely, will the holes in the metal doorframe be covered.

you could just screw em in like normal and get alright response.

you could deaden the doors a little get better response
you could deaden the doors well, spray some rubberized undercoating all up inside the doorframe, and seal up all teh holes and get some badass response.
