New air filter shows big improvements
New air filter shows big improvements
It has been a week and a half since I put in my new air filter. It was the OEM one I got at the dealership for 18 bucks. The day I got the filter, I topped off my car with gas and reset the Trip A thing to 0.0 miles. On my old filter I been getting no more then 250 miles on a full tank of gas for a while now, with the new filter I got 320 miles!
I was surprised, 70 miles more out of a full tank of gas then before; I had no clue an air filter can make that much of a difference.
BTW, the filter I took out was dirty as hell, you could barely see the green "filter paper" on one side, it was all black.
So if your complaining about gas milege, maybe changing your filter will help.
Did anyone else here have significant improvements in gas milege after a filter change?

I installed my CAI about two weeks ago, and although I love the sound and added HP (minimal gains, but still gains) my MPG went down the tubes!! I only get like 25-29 IF I'm lucky and drive like a grandma, but who likes to do that! lol Oh well, it's worth it, if I wanted to save money on gas, I wouldn't want to mod my car! lol
^^ Maybe i should put my stock air system back on and put my CAI away. Most of the time i dont rev past 4g's to make use of the higher end pickup the CAI is supposed to add to. Plus gas is expensive for me.

I had a CAI, and then a K&N FIPK... I've since removed the K&N and gone back to a stock paper filter and couldn't be happier. It's quiet, the performance is the same, my mileage is better, and it's QUIET.
That reminds me, i need some cabin air filters....

I wouldn't do that!
You may not use the high end torque/HP (again MINIMAL, but there is a little), but I'm sure your car thanks you because it can breathe better! lol
Do what you want to, it's YOUR car, and if you haven't noticed any dive in MPG...I'd leave it.
Besides, if you can't afford gas...get a better job man!
That or DON'T DRIVE!
lol But that would be NO FUN! lol
