Thumbs down California Smog Check & Mods

I have a 01 Sedan and it's got very little in the way of mods. It should have a cheap CAI (Ebay) and a performance Muffler.

Does anyone know if that will effect California Smog Checks at all? Has anyone had any problems so far with Smog Checks, and mods on your car?

I really have no clue, so I'd like to know how you go about getting your cars registered if they may not be able to really pass smog.... if that's a problem.

Intake and a muffler should pass if that's all you have.

2 cats? Do I have 2? what about a resonator? Is your license address in cali or washington, if it's wash. then you can just say you down here getting some cheese and still be cool. Wait, who has had to smog their car already? Not time yet right? Too new of a car?

How do you have 2 cats? DX/LX header (with cat) and the EX exhaust cat (in the back)? Unless its an "HX" thing, I wouldn't understand. I dont have a cat and I couldnt care less about smog.

I'd buy an intake off of eBay but not the air filter.

Well the muffler I got from ebay too, and it sounds just fine. The intake I actually got from some guy on here... haven't installed it yet tho. Need to.

I just bought the car, so I need to smog it to put it in my name. After that, I don't think I need to smog it for a few years, registration-wise.

You will pass emissions, but if the intake does not have a C.A.R.B. exempt ID tag,
you will fail the visual.

i've already got one traffic ticket in california, the cop that pulled me over didnt even ask for registration. And yes i had 2 catalyic converters. I had a lx header(replaced with the stafford fabrications header) and a cat on my exhaust like the ex. Only the hx's have them.

Why dont you just get a straight pipe to replace the one on the exhaust at least. makes no fuvking sense to run turbo and have constricted power.

Would my car pass smog with the following mods?

1.) AEM SR Intake - CARB # included
2.) DC Sports Ceramic Header - CARB # included

I did not count the DC Sports TCS exhaust since it does not directly effect the emissions of the vehicle. Also, if the CARB #s make the mods legit and it passes visual inspection, then will my actual smog check pass? Since I'm a noob and I am new to this, please go easy on me. Thanks.

Just remeber people we have ULEV cars (ultra low emission vehicles)
If you have a cat, you'll be fine.

Like PunkingCivic said... as long as you have your catalytic converter, you should be fine. I really don't think I/H/E would fail unless you're running a high flow cat or no cat. It just doesn't sound fair to have bolt ons that don't offer power at the cost of emissions? I don't think it works like that.
