painting emblems
hey all, i'm thinking of painting my emblems black. i have a black vic. i was thinking of getting spray paint, spraying the fron and rear H emblems, then clear coating them to give them a shiny look. i'm going for a dark look, so it may look ok. what do y'all think?
go for it... it'll probably look pretty good..
just make sure you sand down the chrome, and then use some primer... then paint with some good paint, and then clearcoat....
good luck with it if you decide to do it... and post pics!

actually, i was thinking of doing this, too...i just don't know how to remove the two emblems. i know the back on is actually attached the the trunk (through the two holes), but i don't know how the front one is attached. anyway, if you want to ask someone that's done it, 7thgenerasiancivic did it to his front "H"

if yer gonna paint "civic" and maybe your trim level like "ex" or something, would you be able to put it back on after taking it off? or should you just buy new ones, paint those, then stick 'em on in the stock places?

buy new ones
lightly sand them
prime them
paint with semi-gloss (maybe 2-3 coats)
clear them (probably not necessary though)
then install
i did my trunk 'H' with the above steps except i used flat black and didnt clear them (i dont have pics, so dont ask)

hmmm... so does the black chrome emblems honda sell fit our civics or for older gens?
i'm going to do it this weekend so i'll let y'all know how it turns out. i just hope it doesn't look like the chrome one got torn off, leaving a black covering.
i'm only doing the H. totally debadged the rest, can't afford to fill in the holes if i debadge the H as well.

but that takes away all the fun of doin it yourself, i painted my wirecover and fusebox and got carried away and ended up painted a quarter, pepsi can, wrench, rsx remote entry, and my friends shoes (without him knowin), you get really carried away when you've got a can of spray paint in your hand, you just look around for more things to spray

Um you have to break them off.
use doublesided tape to put them back on. (thin tape)

i mean cmon installing springs is effort, grey's DIY's are effort
but painting emblems! its childsplay
oh and i just got a new grille cause of my accident im using gunmetal grey instead of grey metalic flakes like before...it'll look the same in pics but its a different shade upclose.
