when u take out the back seat do u see that brown stuff stuck to the metal of ur car, now take ur whole interior out and pull all that stuff out it weighs alot by the time u take lots out. downside is its a sound deadening device so ull get alot more road noise

Remove interior panels, the dash, capreting, the roof lining, add cf hood, fenders, and trunk, replace glass with plexi, remove speakers, remove AC, power steering, etc. etc. You get the point :P All a matter of how extreme ya wanna kill weight.

rims = rotating mass.. makes BIGGER difference than same wieght loss in actuall car wieght,,,, best way to do it is take EVERYTHING out you can live without.. get 15-16" light wheels with nice tires... no stereo, no a/c, no PS, no sunroof... you get the idea.. the sound deadening isnt gonna be 50lbs... but worth doing if you have time and care that much... im gonna start getting more hardcore with this stuff... so we'll see if i come up with anything else... rear bumper support can save you 35-50 lbs... but not sure if ours is removeable or welded on... 6thgen = removeable by bolts, we do my guys in and out ALL the time.. he changes his mind like every other week.... best difference you will FEEL though is LIGHT wheels.... 10-12 lb 15-16 " wheels, with nice tires = DIFFERENT car.....

futurersxswap, hahahaha that was funny. You talking about how people should have 15"-16" wheels when you've got damn 19's on your ride...lol

sorry, just made me chuckle.

Some thing you could do, and stillkeep the intirior would be to remove all of the sound deadining pads. its made of Tar and its heavy and tough to remove but you'll trim quite a few pounds.

the other thing you could do if you're going for handling is to redestribute some weight. Like moving the battery to the trunk
get some weight off the nose.. I've thought of doing it my self and it is legal for STS but I want to get the corner weights first and adjust what I can there....

And i love my 15's 11.8lbs also the tires you run will make a difference, both in their compound and by possibly being a slightly smaller diamiter.
Like my race tires, Falken Azenis Sports, in 205/50R15 approx 5% smaller then stock EX tires. this gives a bit of an acceleration boost because the engine will be running at a higher RPM for any given speed..... you'll be in the powerband more often..

Oh, Hell ya it will..... Crunch!

There is sound deading pads all over the car, some people add more too just to get rid of vibrations and improve sound quality from their sound systems. (Fat Mat)

Basically its a sheet of heavy flexible meterial such as Tar, attached to a plastic sheet on one side so that it dosnt stick to every thing. striping out the pads is on of the things that Honda does for the R cars. you'll probably have to take out most of the intirior to get to it and Im not sure how much or where it is And its a royal pain to scrape off, so this is not an easy project. I'd suggest using a Hair dryer to heat it up a bit and a scraper of some sort to get it off. Be VERY carefull on the thinner pieces of metal such as the quarter pannles you dont want to damage them. You'll probably find some in the trunk, under the rear seats, under the carpet and attached to the Firewall... maybe some attached to the doors too. Good luck, and like I said its not really an easy project....

Now... forged and expensive is nice... but not essential.

10.5 Lbs (yes, that is lighter than a TE37)

And they were only $85 a piece.

duh! thats why im telling u lol.

its simple, just get some dry ice...
1. crack into a million pieces, spread it all over the black goo that u want to scrape off.
2. let it sit there for a while, tap the goo every hour to see if its hard and brittle enough.
3. when it is hard and brittle, start scraping. a hammer and a spatula looking scraper would be good. do it gently so u wont scratch the metal and leave ugly streaks.
4. if u get left over black streaks after u get the goo off, use goo gone to clean it off.

by the way, u can save the dry ice and use again on another area if u want.

wow futurersxswap did 13.8 with 19's??

i agree with heavy rims being a major factor wen trying to make ur 1/4 faster. i have ADR reaction rims 17 inch. they are pretty heavy. i also had a sub, kickier kx 800.4 amp (huge) and probably close to 50 pounds of mdf in my trunk along with spare tire. LOL i hit 18.1.. im sure i can do 17.5 atleast if i remove the above listed.

lol not like 17.5 is anything to be proud of =P

those rims are that light and 85 a peice? i was always under the impression that light rims were expensive. so you are telling me that i could have spent less money and been faster too?

big rims are expensive. Even when you add the price of a light set of small wheels, it's still cheaper than big ones. I'm going to get some light either 15's or 16's someday.

it's not worth taking out the spare tire

I go canyon running all the time, three times a week sometimes

I went to los angeles crest this morning, and i found out i had a flat on my azenis sport at the gas station

I drove for a while without my spare, and i was thinking about removing it again, good thing i did

right now, since i spend all my time at school, 19 units, mechanical engineering, i don't have to drive people around so i have the rear and the passenger seat removed

the passenger seat is about 35 lbs.
