UC Riverside: Goods and Bads? (entering freshman)

Hey guys, I've been accepted into UC Riverside already, but I'm trying to get into UC Irvine. Anyway, I went to check out the Preview Day today at UCR and the campus was really nice! We invaded this guy's dorm room (the cheaper ones-$9000/yr or something). I'd just like to know what some of you guys think of the school...

So my question is, what do you guys think of the school in general?
How is social life outside of school (didn't seem like there was much to do in Riverside)?
How are the people?
Do you recommend the school?
Anything else?

Im first year at Riverside with transferred college units from Cerritos and my H.S.
So far UCR has been pretty damn hot.
Parties aren't too great (knowing i party at Long Beach)
Girls are not that great either. Ive only met 1 cute girl.
Social events are all over the place, frats and sororities throw lots of parties, and there are a gang of asians.
Dorms arent that great. East Lothian is #1 overall but Pentland is the newest and the nicest although they are considered the "anti-social dorm".
UCR is commonly known for their Business Admin and their Bio-chem?? majors.
I ended up going to UCR cuz they offered my lots of financial aid and I didnt get accepted to my first choice USC. GO TROJANS!!
The major thing i hate about riverside is that there is no football team, i am a die hard football fan.
......
btw. it is in the middle of no where, all i do is wake up, goto class, study, go party and its the next day again.
People there are pretty cooh. Some ppl in dorms are in that wannabe gangster thing like h.s. but I guess some ppl grow out of that stage really late.

enough said. come by the Riverside meet if you really want to get to know ppl from around there. pace.

Dood, if there is nothing to do in riverside then do what the rest of us and go out of town for fun! You can find lots of **** to outside of riverside, and there are alot of places to go that about 1 hour or less away. There are also alot of small clubs and **** in riverside, san bernandino, mo. val., ontario, etc, ect.

I like going to UCR because it has that small school atmosphere, while still getting a quality education. Any bachelors degree from any UC is worth the same, it's where you get the schooling for your masters, doctorate, or Ph. D, what counts!

lol... lots of ucr threads lately...

all i know is that UCI dorms are **** and UCR has the nicest dorms...
1. East Lothian is the best, good atmosphere (ideal for socializing) and nice rooms with billiards room, store (like 7-11), and weight room
2. Pentland is the newest and nicest suite rooms. But the design doesn't promote socializing. they have a weight room and arcade too...
3. West Lothian is nice too, they have a big lobby with big screen, ping pong tables, air hockey, and some arcade games (accessible by E. Lo
4. A&I is the oldest dorm... nuff said

UCI dorms have like 2 stalls and 2 showers for everyone in the hall, and no toilet seat covers

UCR science professors definintely know what they are talking about... all the smart ones come to UCR because we're known for scientific research(they are getting grants all over the place)

we used to have an accelerated bio-med program (become a doctor in 7 years) but i don't know if they have it anymore, either way, the bio-med department is pretty good... entomology department is one of the best (they know their bugs lolz)...

the research labs here are pretty good, and they just finished building the big Science Labratories I building

right now they are building a HUGE new physical sciences building (near lothian)

you should go to one of those tour days where they take you around and stuff... you'll find out that UCR is a bit under-rated... i'm not saying its the best school or anything, but it is certainly an established university...

JDMCIVIC will become famous soon enough
I've been to most of the UC's and UCR is aiight. Not the greatest but depends on the type of person. I have a couple of friends going there right they're like its ok but they look forward to coming back home alot...lol...UCSB is real nice my friends apartment is like 2 secs from the beach but besides the view campus can be dead sometimes. UCSD is ok to but the last time I went there everyone was stuyding and I was like the only one wanting to party...lol nerd school...jk

During my Jr. year in H.S. (last year), I applied for the Guaranteed Admissions Program (GAP), which says that if you have at least a 3.5 GPA then basically you're in.

I'd rather go to UCI b/c its not in the heart of L.A. (too much traffic), its also not too far from San Diego (come home on the weekends), and I just hear good things about it.

I went on the tour when I was at UCR yesterday. The campus is beautiful. They showed me the dorms and the game rooms and all that. I didn't see too many girls on the campus either. And I did hear that the school is awesome for studying ANTS... haha. If you pick an orange off the tree, you'll be fined like $100 or something.

I've never really thought about or seen UCSB, but I'll look into it. UCSD just seems like its boring though, but at least its still in the city... I'm either majoring in medical (Physician Assistant) or General Business, so I don't know which school is best for both... Thanks for the input guys.
