did i screw up anything????
Today on my way back home i decided to get something to eat so i pulled into a Subway restaurant. it was busy there so i decided to head home.
now here is the problem.
since our cars are really quiet when idle I thought I had turned the car off, so i turned the iginition again and there was a horrible screeching noise. i let the key go as soon as i heard the noise, i'm guessing i held it for about 1 second.
i haven't turned the car on since so i'm not sure if anything happened, this was the first time i did this so it really is bothering me.
help!!!!!!!

Chuckle...I think most people have done this once or twice. It can be bad for your starter.....but one time probably didn't funk anything up. I wouldn't worry about it. I bet you look at your tach from now on before turing your key though.
guys what about this..
i got a m/t..
when i started my car i thought the gear is in neutral so i let the clutch out all the way at once with e-brake on but without pressing the brake..
the car had a big shock and stalled immediately..
i did this about 2times after i got my car which has 1050 miles on it..2months old..
what do u think?

I think you should wiggle your stick back and forth..NO NO not that stick sicko. The one in your car. It's hard on your car...doing it repeatedly would kill your car. 2wice should be OK. but 3 times and I'd have to wonder about you.
make it a habit to either leave your car in or out of gear ...
I ALWAYS ALWAYS leave my car in 3rd gear ... unless I'm on a hill facing down ... then I put it in reverse. When u do that, then u always know to take it out of gear when you start your car

I always leave my car in first gear or reverse depending on which way I will drive to get out of where I left it. You should shake it back and forth to make sure it is in neutral before letting off of the clutch.

I leave my car in neutral all the time, I guess I live dangerously lol. it saved my ***, when a lady backed into my car it allowed it to roll back a little, this may have saved it from further damage. I dunno, just my $.02.

When I park I always put it in second and pull the ebrake . . I start it while it's in gear but right after it's started I put it in neutral until I'm ready to go. I've acidentally let off the clutch when it was in first and had the lunge/stall thing happen. . Fortunately my ebreak was on which kept it from slamming into anything.
