Vents Moving

It may seem petty, but this is very annoying.

I want the vents to stay flush with the rest of the dash, but they keep tilting (up/down) and they just wont stay!
Ive got 01 EX coupe, in case that might matter.
Has this happened to anyone else?
or possibly anybody have some tips on how to make them stay?

probably need some new, or sturdier, rubber o rings in where the vents tilt up and down, see if there is a way to get in there and put some new rings in.

The o-ring idea works very well, I installed some meaty o-rings on my vents on my old 02 EX and they never fell back down. When I bought my 03 Si it seems that Honda had figured this out because the Si vents are very tight, just like my 02 EX was after the o-ring mod.

Yeah...my 01 EX does the same thing. The vents are very loose. On my gf's car, which is a 03 civic EX, her vents are alot more solid. I've been thinking of ghetto rigging it, by putting a few layers of black tape under the vent, to give it a little friction, so it won't move as much.

I have no problemwith tilting up and down. But I hate trying to position them left/right. It's like I need to add oil or grease to the left/right joints. It's only for the vents above the radio. They've been stiff like that, since I bought my car. I dont use them that much though.

Guys, just take it to the dealer and say you want it fixed under warranty. They just ordered new vents and swapped mine out. Problem solved!

One of the few things Honda didn't design so well. The vents should pivot on the vertical axis not the horizontal axis. If you have the vent adjusted just right to blow on you when you need max cooling you can't turn it off you without messing up the difficult to adjust horizontal setting. If you only tilt it the air still blows on some portion of you. If the vent adjusted up and down and then pivoted on the vertical axis you could get it just right and then just rotate it toward the passenger seat when you don't want it blowing on you. When you need it full strength again rotate it back. Much better system than what they have designed.

I think I need to post a sign in my car that says "DONT PLAY WITH VENTS" I am always catching the passenger, whoever it is playing with them!!!

I took it to honda and complained - they put new ones in free!!!
now they are soo tight up and down and side to side, its great!!!
also, whereas the spots on the side vents where it has the markings for open and closed were just plain, now they are marked with white, bery exciting.

I put tiny O-rings on mine, and they are fine. I don't want Honda touching my car unless something major is wrong with it. Last time I had a scheduled service, they all gawked at my X-brace like they never saw such a thing.
They finally figured out they could still take the oil drain plug out without removing it.

Morons....

I get scared everytime. Once I hit 36k, they'll never see it again.
