i just won a header on e-bay!!
i was not expecting to win, with my weak bid of $46.00, but i checked my e-mail, and i won!!
it's an OBX, i have heard nothing about this company, or it's line of aftermarket parts, but it sure beats paing the $350 i was going to for a tech racing header.
my question is this:
i have a LX, this header is for an EX.
the LX has the CC in the header, the EX is in the downpipe.(colector)
now, i have no emitions laws in my area, so the cat doesn't matter except to the EPA ($10,000 dollar fine, jeez..)
my question is:
will this header "bolt-up" to my current downpipe?
are the down pipes on the LX the same as EX, minus the cat?
anyone with an LX tried to add just a header to their car, with no reguard for the enviroment?

you are going to have trouble clearing your front sway bar. It does not have the hump in it that the EX one does to clear the cat and downpipe.

no it doesn't bolt on
you dont have to mess with ur front sway bar
just take it to a muffler shop, have them weld on an extension tube for you... (well, it bolts on the top, but the bottom wont reach the collector of the mid pipe.. you just gotta extend the tubing)
and it'll pretty much be like the kamikaze "race" header for the LX. (its just their EX design, with extended pipping)

oh yeah. damn.
i believe there's another o2 sensor below.. after the cat too...
so you'll need to ask the muffler shop to have that extension pipe made with two o2 sensor holes... so you can plug those there.
you will most likely need a o2 simulator too, to make sure the ecu is getting the correct fuel mixture to your engine, and avoid a check engine light.
another route is the more expensive one... you can swap completely to an ex system.. which requires an ex downpipe/cat convertor (stock or aftermarket)... and an ex cat-back system. stock, custom, or aftermarket.
and finally ex front sway bar.
expensive.
some have done this though.

i already have the header....i might as well install it.
minumal gains!!??
this is a LX. the cat is in the header, about 1/2 inch from the block.
by putting a real header on, i'll gain ALOT!!
i'm gonna do it anyways......

when you say alot you mean like 3-4 hp if that... woo woo
either way go for it I guess it still fun doin stuff like that, my point is if I saved up all the money I spent on all the crap on my car, id have enough for a turbo.... in which case a header won't do you any good...

so your saying gains of 3-4 hp (this figure is off an EX) is not good for $50?? i know people that spend hundreds of dollars for that kind of gain.
and like i said, this is a LX! the restrictions of air flow (or exhaust) are overwhelming!! i think it'll be more like 6-7 hp gained by losing the constrictive "cat in header." the EX has atleast 3 in. of pipe before the colector/cat pipe. the LX has like half an inch!!
i think it's worth it.
honda-2k1: i don't want to sell, but if i did, how much are you willing to pay?
