Question exhaust

i have a hp header and a high flow cat with mendrel bent piping. not too long ago i put a resonator because i was pulled over for a loud exhaust. well i put on a fat 26 inch resonator and i can feel alot of low end not but i think it cut off some top end. and it is still pretty loud.

well as most of you have heard my exhaust, it is still pretty loud and i don't know how to get it quieter...

so i was thinking, do you guys think i should take off my resonator, for my top end... i know i will get tickets(i don't mind them), but i had my exhaust for over a year befor i got my first and only exhaust ticket. and i know i am going to be really loud again...

so what should i do, take my resonator off?

btw, would anybody know of a restrictor or a flange that i could put on one of my connections which will make my piping only be like 1.75 inches big(stock). would this make my exhaust quietier for temporary use only?

1. Keep your resonator
2. Don't change your piping in one section only. This disrups the airflow.

What size is your piping? 2.25"?
If you had crush bent piping, i'd tell you to get like 2.00" (0.25" makes a huge difference in sound), but you have mandrel....very nice stuff.

silencer is the best thing to do if you just want to temporarily quiet your exhaust...

my sebring tunning cf exhaust doesn't have a silencer. blah, i can just unbolt it at the cat and put a flange there if i want to get it tested or some crap... but the thing is, that its going to be loud, not raspy loud, deep(V8) loud

you dont mind the tickets? haha.

i know this is a little off topic but... i recently posted in the "vehicle problems" section about a muddled "ssss" i get from somewhere on my car. and when i got home today, after parking the car in the garage, i could hear it a lot. so i got out of the car, opened the hood...couldn't hear it too well from the top of the engine nor near the intake, and i got the impression that it might hav been coming from my exhaust piping. coudl that be possible? maybe they didnt weld the piping too well from teh catalytic converter?

btw, no one wants a cf hood?

i think u can buy a universal silencer... or one for another exhaust as long as its the same size diameter... you might have to drill a small hole in the side of the tip though...

get a greddy evo ... those are VERY quiet exhausts (compared to just about everything else)

thats what i got. it's verrry quiet. but it gets insanely deep from 1-2.5rpm. when u pass about 2.5k rpm it starts to get smooth and u can barely hear it, especially with ur music bumpin. so freeway driving is alright. u can hear it, but it's not loud by any means. but as soon as u rev it past 4.5 to 5rpm, it gets louuud. so there are these little sweet spots i guess.

I wouldnt suggest the Apexi N1. My friend has just the muffler and it sounds awful. Sounds like a bumblee is stuck in the can...Maybe the catback sounds different but I dont recommend it.

Apexi N1 ? Are you insane? That's considered one of the loudest muffler/exhaust systems for imports.... haha

reading > yuo

he asked about the apexi world sport not the n1... 2 totally different exhausts...

the apexi ws is a nice quiet exhaust which was designed to be more on the sporty side... like the others say, a greddy evo would be a good alternative... i also read that the HKS axle back is quiet as well...

wow thats pretty loud... the resonator shouldn't be restrictive if its the same diameter as the piping, i don't think it would make a difference if you take it out unless the resonator diameter is smaller...

WTF?!?!? On the N1. 02NBPcivicEX has one and I think the one time I saw it in there it was fine. But its not really that loud, it just has a clean sound. Not too deep, not too whiney, plus its hella nice!!! 115mm tip!! wOOt wOOt!
