Humiliated a S2000
After me and a couple of friends hit 3 canyons, we decide to hit this place called "Stunt road" one last time for the night, it goes way up into the mountains. Anyway on our way home, this yellow S2000 is heading back down to the valley, so I give chase, he pulls over and lets me pass I figure he doesnt want to run, next thing I know, I hear him redline and hes on my tail.. CLOSE.. so ITS ON.. After about 15 minutes of intense turns, etc, I ABSOLUTELY lose him, a good 7-8 car lengths, and his driving was very smooth, i was watching him in my rearview, at times he got damn close, but when the turns came i lost him little by little. IT was so exciting... I was pushing my car to its LIMITS.
If both cars had equal drivers, yes i probably wouldnt stand a chance, but I know our civics have GREAT balance.
My mods: Front strut bar, rear RSX-S sway bar, and sprint springs, and ballz of steel
LOLZ

I suppose, but he actually took the turns really smoothly, do you guys think our civics have better roadholding than the S2000? It really came down to how tight both cars can handle the corners. After our little fun was over, (due to a slow moving car) he stayed faaaaaaaaaar behind, didnt want to look. haha. If I know I was pushign it, he was too, on some corners he wasnt too far behind, but when the driving got REALLY extreme (s-turns) i lost him little by little.

It could quite possibly be that he didn't feel like destroying his car over something stupid... ever think of that? Chances are if you "lost him" after a considerable amount of time, he just backed off.

No, he didnt back off, he tried to the very end. I know my story ain't nothing w/o proof, but oh well! As long as I know. I could hear him screeching at every turn as I was also, and I can see that HID on my *** (the canyon is pitch black). Again, the funny part is when we started our downward path from the top of the mountain, he signals and pulls over to the shoulder and lets me get ahead, and immediately gets on my tail. I think it all comes down to a REALLY good driver in an OKAY car (me) and an OKAY driver in a REALLY good car (him) But, believe me, staying a good length in front of him WASNT easy at all.

I thought that The M/T Coupe had a weight distrobution of 59/41??
Any way, I've had many coments from Experianced drivers on how well balanced the car is.
As far as the S2000.... well he probably freaked him self out, and you were willing to push it more. Good run, but an S2000 in the right hands would run circles around our civics....
Oh ya, Its true too.... Our cars were made for corners not straights....

I have noticed how well our cars handle, my friends turbo eclipse could not run with my honda. But, its a 1st gen eclipse with a shot suspension. I find it difficult to believe that Honda's sport car could be out handled by its economy coupe without some sort of far more advanced supsension setup than stock.

I scared myself shitless on a few turns... and on most turns, I was pushing it so hard that as I approahced 20 MPH turns at high speeds, i was using full ABS braking before the turn. Driving at these high speeds/sharp turns requires total concentration. GOD IM STILL PUMPED!

I think he was trying his hardest, just by the way he was driving, but he just didnt have enough experience on that road (IMO), trust me, if i stomp a much better car than mine, i'll be the first to say the driver sucked.. i also raced a BMW m3 convertible on another canyon and stomped him as well, driver just knew how to drive straight, but lost him big time in the turns.. the S2000 i dindt beat by THAT far, maybe 7-8 lengths.

If he lost to you, there musta been NO straigt aways, also, he has more to lose than you, RWD understeers, if he fishtails he's ****ed, while your civic will just understeer, and you'll slide, much easier to deal with then going sideways... Lastly, he might've been keeping his distance on some of those corners so he didn't hit you... Sounds like you had fun though.
Personally I need better tires then the shitty stock firestones, they just don't stay on the road, it's like i'm driving on butter.

Yeah, he's probably one of the worst cornering drivers you'll ever meet. I never autocross or anything, but I could still hand it to many cars in corners EASILY when I had my S2000. That guy REALLY REALLY couldn't drive if he was trying. The S2000 is one of the best handling cars in stock form there is. And in modified form, it holds the world record for skidpad g's. You met the worst driver ever. yuck.

Exactly! A prime example of that is: Right now Not only am I beating the one Si that come out and autocrosses with us, but Im also Currently outrunning an S2000, 2 350Z's and an SRT-4. all of these cars, with the exception of the Si have the potential to kick the Crap outta me. But as it stands, these drivers are incapable of using that potential.

Of course. I've yet to find anyone who can challenge me on the canyon... yes I wish i had an S2000, but I have to make best with what I have. But seriously, if RWD is going to put that much fear into you to make it where you cant drive 100% to its limits.. thats not good.

some people value their lifes a little higher than betting some kid in a civic...
Granted I like canyon carving, but I'm not going to risk the pain and suffereing my family will have to go through when I fly off a cliff and die...
LASTLY, he could've just gotten the car like THAT DAY... or close to it, there are many reasons for what could have happened, if you feel you really did beat him, then good for you, you don't have to convice us.

Dude, I beat S2000s all the time.(Allong with some other "Fast" Cars) See Unlike Drag racing, when you race where there are corners the DRIVER is about 85%-90% of the equasion. Cars dont drive them selfs, and though with the proper driver the S2000 will kick the snot outta any civic in the corners, If the driver donst have the experiance/skill then he/she will not win, Period.

The car has the potential, but its up to the driver to bring out and use that potiental.......... Unfortunatly, a large portion of S2000 dirvers have only learned to use the gas pedal (A vast majority of drivers in general too). So I'd say that if a person in a mildly preped civic who knew the limits of his car and could use it at those limits could beat an S2000 that had a driver that only knew how to use the gas...... Like I said, on a road course or autocross Driver counts for about 85% of the performance of a given car.
Moral of the rant: Just because you own/drive a fast car, dosn't mean that you are a good driver.
