question about 03 ex vtec...

yeah i searched, remember that, but i didnt find the info i was lookin for, probably didnt look hard enough my bad

anyways, yes new to civics. i know the 03 civics have the D-Series motors, but what is the exact model in the ex coupes? and lookin at the HX's and their vtec-e's engaging at 3500rpm with no high end performance cams like the older civics, is the EX vtec, although not stated as "e", the same with its engagement point at the low 3500rpm meant only for fuel economy as the HX, or are the EX vtec's more performance oriented even still an economy car?

sorry bout this...

same 3500 rpm engagement point, no vtec "nudge" feel when vtec engages?

It's funny that the 2k2 brocures say SOHC VTEC and not VTEC-E as there is a difference between those two types of VTECs. In the end, it's strictly for fuel economy. I don't believe there's a difference in the new 03s, as it would have to be a D17A3 or a D17A4 given the change, but it's still D17A2 and everything from the tranny's gear ratios, to the ECU is all the same. It'd cost too much money for Honda just to put a different type of VTEC in the same engine that pretty much does the same thing.

As for the 6th Gens... bah, who cares. Our cars are faster than theirs, and our engines take more boost than theirs. VTEC ain't gonna win races no matter what engine it's in more than driver's skill.

the ex has a 2 stage vtec. one engaged at low rpms ~3500 and the other at around 5*** something. i know the hx has a different engine than the ex cause i got my vafc working on my ex and it kicks in hard set at 4500rpm.
