About a manual swap...

What are DEFINITE items I will need from converting from A/T to M/T? Don't go and tell me to trade in my car cause it won't happen. I know what I want to do, and I am going to dedicate myself to it. Ok.. So I hear people throwing around #s like $1,500 up to $2,000... That sounds very reasonable to me esp if its going towards something I'm going to enjoy.. obviously we need...

1) Manual transmission (dx/lx/ex all the same?)

2) all the necessary linkages, cables some kind of master c yl. for the clutch?) Should this come with the tranny?

3) Civic 5-spd center console.. where should I get this?

4) ECU -- $200 maybe?

anything else? I should have the money in a couple of months.. I just want to prepare myself.

has ANYONE done this yet? Please post your experience. Thanks!

I have not done this yet, BUT I can tell you that the DX and LX transmissions are different from the EX, and the HX is different as well.

The EX' has the shortest Gearing, while the HX has much Taller gearing. The DX, LX is somewhere in the middle.

about time we get some straight answers all these noobs telling us to trade in the car, when in fact I dont want to trade it in because of all of the mods I have and I prefer a 2002 over a 2003 just because its newer dont mean jack didly, they all look the same.

What would be the best would be the transmission out of the civic si, cause it has even closer gearing, but out of the EX,DX,LX,HX, the Ex would be the best to go with if you were shooting for performance...(HAH.. in a civic...) anyway, good luck, that's all I have to offer, if you're really interested, I posted a spreadsheet on here somewhere that shows all the different speeds. If you give me your e-mail i'll send it to you.
