I just read in the paper that cops are now authorized to pull ANY car over that has a bigger than normal exhaust pipe so that the cop can check out the engine for aftermarket "Illegal" mods. They are now being trained in San Diego to be able to identify what parts are legal and what parts are not legal.
Three people were pulled over and interviewed about what happened to them when they were pulled over. One of the individuals said, "When I wanted to show the officer the certificates that they are emissions legal, he laughed and said tell it to the judge".
What happenes now is that if you are pulled over in the great state of California and the officer cites you as having potiential illegal mods in accordance with California Emmisions, than you have to correct it or show proof that it is legal and goto the Bureu of Automotive Repair and show them, THEN you have to get it written off by a judge.
So the whole emissions thing is the ammo that CA is using against all the modded cars now. They say they are trying to take all the "Racers" off of the street and they simply cannot afford the manpower to chase them down in the act. So this is the route they are taking.
BTW: The 3 people that were interviewed that got pulled over were not racing and casually driving when cited. They all proved their mods were legal. And now they are pissed....
IMO I thinik this is so full of crap. I can't believe they are gonna do this ..!!

Cali is f'n gay. What's more noticeable? A loud *** roar from a v8, or a small rev from an import? They gotta start cracking down harder on those domestic **** if we're gonna be getting busted too. But, I bet you that law is only gonna affect the SoCal guys more than the NorCal peeps. Like the San Diego/Los Angeles areas. It's pretty much dead up here, but f**k it, this car is getting sold soon anyway.

Time to save for a nice car and not fix it up.

Otherwise, I don't really care. It's just a muffler law and I wouldn't run anything that didn't look stock anyway just so cops don't notice me.
muscle cars
ok seriously this is all the stupid muscle cars fault
if muscle cars hadn't brought so much attentiion to emmision we would be fine and now the get out of it because they are considdered classics this is the same exact thing that happened to me when I took my alfa GTV 625s out for a cruise and I got pulled by some cop that said my exhaust was to loud I had to pay a 200$ fine it was so bogus I should have taken it to court but it was way to much of a hassel well the alfa becomes a classic in 5years but for all cali tuners alike were screwed
