Why do people always look down when they are trying to learn how to ride?

That guy obviously didn't take the time to figure out where the brakes were. Oh and to turn, you don't really use the handlebars. It's more leaning then anything. It only took me about 30 mins until I was comfortable on a bike. You just need to find an appartment complex or a nice big parking lot to practice in.
