Trade your car for a manual. Why did you just buy a manual in the first place?

the money it would cost to do a auto to manual swap is too much for too little. it would be more prudent to save up get a k20a2 then you'll have a sweet six speed.

you would be better off trading it in.. cause the work and money involved would more than cover a trade in and "extras"

Drop in a K20A, almost all of them come with manual 6 spd trannys.

You get 220 hp, a manual transmission with two more gears and LSD.

All of that for the price of converting an auto to manual without an engine swap.

just trade it in. I miss driving stick too, but I would never waste the money doing that conversion, especially on this car. I'll just wait till my next car to get a manual now that I know how much I miss it.

You people suck. If someone wants to do something, dont go off and repeat the cliche" trade your car for a manual" or "why didnt you buy a manual in the first place"... people change their minds! and people LOVE their cars. I want to do a manual swap too, but i wouldnt trade my car, ive did so much fvckin work on it already. Just answer the question with a response, not with another question.

wait till u get an engine swap, it will come with the tranny, then u can convert, if u r that desperate u can actually make the conversion, but it is very complexe and will cost wayyyy too much

I was wanting to do the same seeing that I have an AT but I will just wait until I get a new car or do the swap.

I believe it was Import Racer that showed how they swapped a K20A into an AT Civic.

It would be an expense not worth spending unless an engine swap was with it. Do it if you want, but save some extra cash and do an engine swap while your already takin the engine out anyways.

so are all of you sayin it would take the same amount of work/effort to put a k20a into either an AT or MT?

Umm no its not the same effort. Read closer. If youre going to make the effort of ripping the engine out and changing the transmission, ECU, etc, than you might as well do an engine swap while you're at it and that way not only would you havea manual, but you could have a 6-speed manual with some actual power attached to it. If you want to swap it out just because, go ahead, but its a complete waste of a few grand that could otherwise be spent in a better way.

Also, it would less effort and a better idea to swap a K20 with a manual transmission. Anyone who swaps in a K20 with an automatic deserves to be hoe smacked.

YOU ARE A GOD!!!! Always wanted to say that never the guts.

Anyway. I want to do this too, but i dont really think it is worth it, I'm not stopping you however, go for it. today, i thanked god i didnt have a manual, I went to the beach and was pummeled by wave after wave on my crappy $20 bodyboard. I was tired and an automatic was a godsend, i could barely hold onto the wheel, much less shift. Anyway I ramble on...

To swap an auto to a manual it will be in the range of $1200-3000 (3000 is wayyyyy to much but i tottaly doubt you will pay 3000) depends on whether you go to the junkyard to find your parts. Labor will be a b*tch though. But i od suggest that you do an engine swap and a tranny swap at the same time, saves time and some money. I really don't reccomend that you save for just the tranny swap, It will take longer but save up for both.

yea i've had a friend who owns a shop do a rough and quick estimate on a swap (AT-MT)
he said around 2500ish seemed right with ball park numbers
you should talk to other shops and see what they can quote
but realistically, if your going to spend 2500-3000 on a 5 speed tranny with the same sub-100hp car, your out of your mind!

OMG, Chocobo, you're hilarious. You just contradicted yourself.
First you said:
YOU ARE A GOD!!!! Always wanted to say that never the guts.
And then turned around and said the same thing that everyone has been telling him:

...But i od suggest that you do an engine swap and a tranny swap at the same time, saves time and some money. I really don't reccomend that you save for just the tranny swap, It will take longer but save up for both.
Duhhhh! If you agree that it's not worth the effort...wtf? ?

Uhh guys here you go, I don't get much recognition for being a pioneer, but here you go, it costed me around $1200 for everything including labor without buying unecessary parts, like upgrade clutch internals and short shifter stuff like that.
