03 Cluster Swap into 02
I really want to swap an 03 cluster into my "gf's" 02 dash. I'm sure it's just a matter of matching pinouts, but has ANYONE heard of it being done yet?

has anyone actually tried to rewire? i'd actually try it if i had wire colors for both clusters and the harness. if someone works at a honda dealership, perhaps they can get some wire diagrams for the clusters. essentially both clusters do the same thing, so the wires should be the same, all youd have to do it re-match the colors. anyone have this information?

skip, hey I'd be willing to try it too. It's not like we're going from a 73
Lincoln to a 2003 Ferrari. I'm sure the wiring is very similar but the pinouts are different. The question is: How far back do you need to go in the harness to match the leads? If anyone has the wiring color codes, let us know.

Good point..... but there are like 50-75 wires....relocating all of them takes a LOT of time....who has a lot of free time?

i can cut, strip, solder and tape up 50-75 wires in a couple of hours i mean its not a matter of having too much time on your hands otherwise we wouldnt do anything to our cars and just keep them stock. the hard part is figuring out the wiring. i'll ask someone at my dealer, maybe one of the techs can get some wiring diagrams for me.
the 01-02 setup is better for the performance-inclined driver. The tach and the mph are right next to eachother in perfect sight. Easier to read because they are the same size and equidistant from the center.
the 03 setup is more of a modern look. The average driver doesn't look at the tach, and that's why the speedo is centered and more prominent. Plus it's got all these fancy lights and rings around the gauges.

I have the 03 and my GF has the 02. The 03 looks so much better from an asthetic standpoint. They light up and are just as bright in the day as the night. It's really like the first time the Civic has been given the modern EL look, and the needles glow.
The only beef I have with the 02 SI/EX guages is the fact that they dont have the chrome rings like the new guages. The black rings look cheap. But other than that I think the cluster is just about perfect for me. Easy on the eyes. Red/orange doesnt make your pupils close up. Thats why the military uses red light at night so your pupils stay open.
Besides, I dim the cluster at night anyway. I usualy have it on like 40% brightness driving on dark roads.
