Lightbulb Question about fatmat hoodliner

One of the members on here recommended this, so I ordered one. It says on the site that the kit comes with the foam liner and also a piece of fatmat to apply to the hood first. Will the fatmat melt or smell like tar when installed? I was thinking about installing just the foam, but I don't know if this will be as effective. Thanks for any insight.

I got the hood liner - good stuff! It deadens the engine noise a lot! The only thing is, my foam is starting to come up. Might have to call fat mat about that one. Use the fat mat first, than the foam. The fat mat dampens the sheet metal, while the foam absorbs the engine noise....
