Hankook??

I was in the process of ordering sum 19's and luckily they came in a wheel package from wheelmax.com, but I found out they came with Hankook Ventus Sport K104....I have never heard of these tires, so I wanted to come and ask yall about it....First of all I want a tire that is good in most conditions...dry, wet (hydroplane resistance), snow really isnt a factor, and a tire that will last me atleast 30,000. Basically, I wanted to know if Hankook is a reliable brand? I hope yall reply, cuz I wanna order before midnight closing....THANX!

yes you can... just make sure you check your tire pressure and keep it about 4-5 psi below the maximum thats written on the tire.... if your tire pressure is too low you can end up bending a rim....

about the tires being hankook:
they are a korean based brand... but its not really the brand of tire that matters but what matters is the rating of the tire... z rated tires usually wear out faster than h rated tires but z performs better... it all depends on what you want in a tire... for example

i got h rated kumho 711 ecsta which is cheaper than the z rated 712 ecsta supra, but its tread wear rating is 320 rather than the 280 of the 712... i'm not going to go more than 145 mph anytime soon (h rated means the tire is rated up to 145mph correct me if i'm wrong)... so i saved $20 per tire and will have more miles with these...

Sorry, don't know much about Hankook except the K104's have a treadwear rating of 280 (in the average range) and a traction rating of AA (the top rating).

The speed rating (Z, Y, H, etc.) really won't tell you how long a tire will last. It is just a test the mfrs do to show the maximum MPH that particular model tire is capable of.

Did they tell you what size tires were going on the rims? The smallest K104 I saw was 235/35-19 and that seems awfully wide

Here is the link to the Tire Calculator Look down below in the "Plus Sizes" and you will see that the one recommended 19 inch tire is 215/35-19.

If you ask for 215/35-19, it is MUCH less likely to rub than the other sizes.

As far as going over bumps & potholes, you'll just have to be like the rest of us--be careful because your sidewalls on your 19's will be 3" tall (from the edge of the rim out to the tread). So just remember you are driving on a 3" cushion instead of a 4-3/4" cushion like the stock tires gave you.

Good luck & have fun

I ordered 18's from WheelMax & I got 215/40/18 Ventus K-104 tires on mine. Ventus is the Hankook tire & they had the same ratings (Traction AA, Temperature A, & a treadwear rating of 280). I only had mine for a few months before I sold the wheels but in that period of time the ONLY problem I found with the tires were that they had a tendency to follow most of the grooves in the road (i.e. pulling the car from side to side). Other than that problem the tires were great.
