Speeding Ticket help

Got caught going 80 in a 55 mph by a state cop. He dropped it down to a 70 in a 55 so i wouldn't get reckless driving. He was actually very nice and he commented that if i choose to goto court, he'd testify that i was very polite and cooperative and would reccomend driver improvement classes.

i'm 20 years old with a clean driving record. This is a first ticket for me.

I don't think i can fight the ticket as he already gave me a break. I broke the law and i should deal with the consequences. Question is, can i take driver improvement class online?

15 mph is a $75 ticket with $56 in court costs totaling $131.

EDIT:
Some new info that might help me for you know-it-alls...

I was looking at the court schedule ( http://www.courts.state.va.us/courts...mery/home.html )and my court date is on a wednesday at 8:30. According to the schedule, it states for town and county (i'm guessing its the cop type because on monday it says 8:30 state police) which means perhaps my officer won't be there to show up (he was a state cop)?

If this is true, then i can just plead (when the judge asks guilty or not gulity) no contest and if the officer isn't there, then my case would be dismissed? Correct me if i'm wrong.

Also, can i just say "I plead no contest, but would like to ask for driver improvement class" or what?

As far as I know, I dont think they offer the class online. If the police officer gave you a pamphlet with the ticket that may have the info you're looking for

Good to finally hear a nice police experience

that is cheap. here in KY u have to pay a 115 dollar court cost and a ticket going 15mph over is at least 75 bucks. just go to traffic school. it will keep your driver record clean with no points if u have a point system there.

keep in mind thats his first offense though. i remember when i got a ticket for 35 on 25...it was around the lower 100's. on my 2nd traffic violation, a big whoppin' $350 (which i was found not guilty for )

Man thats a pretty cheap ticket for 15 over...I say dont waste your time going to court if you are just gonna plead no contest...pleading no contest basically says that you accept a plead of guilty without admitting guilt...usually good for cases that plan to be reopened....id just pay it cuz if you plead that in court then you just wasted ur time when you couldve just sent in payment with the ticket...either way, you'd end up paying...

...but i see your idea of it being a state cop...a speeding ticket is hard to have dismissed...but...if you plead not guilty, they will schedule a date for you to come back and present your case against the officer...usually if they dont show up, then the judge wont want to deal with it and completely dismiss the case...and the chances of that happening with you and a highway state patrol? is fairly good as long as he isnt from your area then he probably wont show up...but if he does show up and you dont have a case to present, you'll probably annoy the judge and he will probably add on more fines....

...another thing is that if you want to take defensive driving classes, you could...assuming youre going to be pleading no contest, you dont have to tell the judge that you want to take classes but for suck up purposes, it would be a good idea...also, request that the judge give you community service time instead of paying for the ticket....you'll probably get anywhere from 8-24 hours (1-3 weekends days)...hope this post helped

Just go to court they will give you probation before judgment.
I cut through the grass of a 4 way stop and came with in feet of hitting a cop car, all while high as ****, and got ticket for negligent driving. Told em that I was trying to get a tissue under the seat and trying to mess with the radio.
Went to court got PBJ and got the fine knocked down from 270 to 130.
GO TO COURT, PLEAD GUILTY UNLESS COP IS NOT THERE
