got an old cell phone by any chance??
I'm trying to find an old, unlocked mobile that I can put a sim card in and use while I'm here in England for a few months. One of the mobile carriers here said my best bet was to go on ebay and find a used one for a few pounds because the cheapest phone they had that went with the plan i want is 50 pounds, which is basically $100. I wouldn't spend that on a phone at home and definitely wouldn't spend it on one I'm only going to have for three months.
So I'm bidding on one on the UK ebay right now, but it's one of only a few and it has a few days left on the auction. Someone else is actively trying to outbid me and I'm not looking to spend too much, obviously.
Anyway I'm just throwing the question out there, but not really expecting anything : )
Thanks guys
M

What's your mobile currently? It's possible you can unlock it to work by contacting it's manufacturer, they'll walk you through it. One problem however is that it's not a world phone, meaning it can be used on any network world wide. It might not be the correct band for over there. Who's your carrier?

^ i don't have my phone here with me. i'm having my mom call verizon to ask if my phone is even capable of being used over here.
wildrice, that first phone is sweeeeet! the second looks like you'd want more than i want to pay lol
i'm really looking for like a junked out phone someone would be ready to throw in the trash, cuz i won't be using it for very long.
i'm going to look into what i can do with my phone first (i didn't even think about that because...well...i'm slow) and then go from there.
thanks for the offers so far : )

The phones wildrice posted are the same phone. I own that particular phone and it's spectacular. Cingular actually has me a second replacement on the way because the first replacement has a bad earpiece speaker.
Monkey, do you know the model of your phone? Verizon uses a CDMA or TDMA if I remember correctly. Don't know if England's cell service supports it, and really, if you don't have a world phone, it's unlikely that you'll be able to use it. If you can post the make and model of the phone, I can help you get it unlocked very quickly. I could also find out if it'll work there.
