Re: Auto to Manual

Me and Bob (dopes6070) are doing this swap for another member this weekend. I will take a lot of pictures and there will be a detailed DIY on this once its done. Pull the motor out...its easy as hell and it makes it ALOT easier. Dont be afraid to do it. Just get in there and learn as you go. Sure, you may make a few mistakes, but thats how you learn. You dont need a K20 with a 6 speed to have some fun. Manual is WAY more fun than auto, and the parts are relatively cheap these days. Too bad youre so far away, otherwise I could do it for you. haha.

The top one is the starter cut relay(pressing in the clutch pedal to start the car) and the bottom is for the cruise control.

you have to use a manual ecu, as for the harness, i wouldn't use a different model's, dont know the difference. the under dash harness requires all kind of soldering and stuff because of the reverse lights and stuff from what i have researched. i'm starting my swap soon.

Re: Auto to Manual

i just finished my swap and yes i can confirm you don't need a manual ecu or manual engine harness. you just need to reconnect the black box from the auto trans and have it set on park for the car to start, and yes you will be able to go past 5500rpm. but by doing this you will throw a cel for the missing auto tranny sensors. also i haven't got the reverse lights to work. but i will be swapping in a manual engine harness along with the ecu and dash harness to make it a clean swap.
