Would HDSS be better than XTSS if you plan to drag race but also want the car to be a daily driver at the same time?

i will have a turbo soon and i needed a new tranny and i know i will also need a new clutch for me soon to be turbo civic i got a new clutch. i got a ACT clutch it is a extreem pressure plate and a street disc, it's really stiff but i love it, so really it's what brand you want but i like the ACT

Ok, I emailed the ACT people and this is what they said.

Me: "Hi, I drive a 2002 Honda Civic EX. I got a turbo kit and would
like to upgrade my clutch setup as well. I want excellent grip while drag racing and at the same time I wan the car to be a daily driver as well. Which kit do you recommend?"

ACT: "Based on the information you have provided me I would recommend the HC5-XTSS with the StreetLite Flywheel. You might be able to use the HC5-HDSS depending on how much power your engine is producing."

Got another question answered from ACT.

Me: "I would like to know one more thing, in terms of smooth shifting, comfort and ease of changing gears etc. (for dailing driving) is there any difference between XTSS and HDSS."

ACT: "The pedal pressure feel will be more stiff for the XT than the HD."

And another one.

Me: "Ok, so XT would feel more stiff than HD, but would XT still be drivable under heavy traffic conditions, e.g. stop-go-stop-go situations?"

ACT: "It would be good for daily driving, it will require a little more
effort. But if your car isn't producing over 223 ft/lbs of torque at the
crank I would recommend using HD."


So what do you guys say?

I'd say base your decision on how much power you will SERIOUSLY think you'll be making. Period.

I just read the first page of posts and not all 3, but I figured I'd throw in My 2 cents...I use the Prolite and love it. My car has forced induction and that's why I went with it rather than the the streetlite for the reasons riceburner mentioned earlier,you'll probably be happy with either or to be honest

i got the stage2 setup as mentioned before... it's stiffer than my friend's centerforce on his 97GSX.

The stage 2 holds 270lb of torque btw...

Hey if you had a choice right now, which one would you go for? And do you have the stock flywheel? Prolite? Streetlite?

The flywheel does not increase your clutch.. It is a performance up grade...

Get the Stage 2 Extreme ACT kit for daily driving.. WIth the SF kit you will be makeing over 225lbs of torque at 12psi w/alch...

My car was not tuned yet and I ran close to 200lbs of torque under lean conditions at 10lbs of boost and did not push it to redline.. The Heavy duty clutch only holds up to 230lbs of toque.. Go with the extreme rated to 270 to be on the safe side.. It is expensive and alot of labor to pull the trany to replace the clutch later.. DO it right the first time..

I have the DH-racing racing clutch (unsprung) and I drive it in stop and go traffic.. Dont worry about a stiff clutch.. You will have other things to worry about.. Go with the DEZOD group buy, it ends March 31..

Also be sure to get the alch injection from SF and run pure methanol.. You will feel the diff at 11lbs of boost. You will get bored w/ 7psi very quick..
