Rep Power: 0 engine swap cause check engine light
I have honda Civic vti oriel 2001 in pakistan
It originally had Engine number D16W9 which is a 3 stage V-TEC and car's ECU was programmed according to that.
Later on I swapped that engine with D15b which is 2 stage i mean have only one vtec solenoid on its block.
now problem which i want to discuss and want its solution is when ever RPM goes above 3000 check engine light cones on.
kindly suggest me some solution

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: engine swap cause check engine light
The ECM does not match the engine.
You either need to install a correct engine, or somehow install an ECM and wiring that matches the engine you installed.

yes u r rite
actually ecu is for engine d16w9 which is three stage vtec(02 solenoid)
1st stage active at 25000/3000rpm
2nd stage active at 5500/6000 rpm
but now i hav engine d15b ..having one solenoid which active at 4500 rpm
now i have one solution but it need to be discussed before execution
if i connect the only solenoid at ecu pins which is used for 1stage vtec. then ecu may activate it at 3000 rpm?
is it a right solution?

Re: engine swap cause check engine light
The ECM looks for an appropriate response after it attempts to activate a VTEC solenoid.
If it does not receive that response it expected to see (because your current engine does not have the same features as the original engine), it will set a fault code and go into a restricted driving mode (limp mode or similar)
