The new one is some monster that can put out 160 psi....and its adjustable...supposedly.

Things are starting to get real.

My plan is to cut the flange off and have the d17 aluminum flange tig welded in its place, that way i can use my new 800cc injectors.

Also, when it comes time for the dyno, I will have official numbers on how much this intake helps.

I'll make a few runs on the the plastic intake then switch over to this one. I'll use the same injectors, injector rail, and throttle body on both intakes, same sensors, and same boost amount.

Just kind of brainstorming here but does this KTuner deal have spare inputs and outputs?

Sometimes when you're doing super low budget builds where you want to use $30 fuel pumps and cheapo injectors and stuff, you can simply add a $5 circuit that could save your engine in the event that these parts fail you.

If you could run a fuel rail pressure sensor instead of that gauge, you could trigger a steep timing decrease if fuel pressure begins to drop. You could do the same with wideband data going to the ECU but cutting timing during a lean condition. Some people also run a pressure sensor on their radiator so they kill power if the head gasket starts to lift and pressurize the cooling system before the gasket/engine blows.

Quick update...

It seems that the modified fuel rail was not working properly and i was constantly flooding out the engine. I went back to the stock fuel rail with the inline pump and 800cc injectors and the flooding problem as just about disappeared.

Since the exhaust exit is going thru the hood, it's flipping loud.

Took it out for a quick spin and it appeared to have bothered a few individuals in my neighborhood especially the law...

Engine is running real fat. The engine would bog down with lots of black smoke coming out the exhaust when i went full throttle. When i backed off, it would clear up and go. The AFR recording map was showing i was running around 10.3:1 at full throttle and around 11:1 when i would back off. Obliviously, i'm going to lean it out and try it again....somewhere on the back roads of Texas...or at a Dyno...

I can say this GT35 (garrate knockoff) spooled a heck of a lot quicker to 10 psi compared to my T3-T4 turbo.

Glad the car is running! Hopefully your first oil change looks clean. Very odd a fuel rail would cause rich idle. Make sure the stock rail doesn't starve the motor when it's singing and watch those AFR's when you start to make real power.

In theory, the stock fuel rail will have more than enough fuel coming it's way with two pumps in series...

I pick up a trailer tomorrow, get it tuned Thursday evening, and then hit San Antonio raceway Friday night...if everything goes well Thursday.

After an hour of setting the fuel table pre-boost (I switched the car over to E85 that day so the tables were quite a bit off), the ECU decided that it had enough and would not talk to the computer. We tried multiple reboots of the computer and this and that and to no prevail, computer and ecu would not talk to each other...so i went home with my head hung low.

I was towing the car 45 miles back home, and within 3 miles from the house, i had a brilliant idea of unplugging the battery and see if it would reset the ecu. Sure-as-****...i get home, unplug the battery, wait a few minutes, plug it back up, and baaammmm the ecu started talking to my computer. put in the last tune we saved that evening and the car started right up. Good thing, i needed to get it off the trailer.

I learned a lot watching chad and literally being a backseat tuner...

I'm gonna do some street tuning this weekend and try to get the fuel table closer so were not spending soo much time working on pre-boost.

Chad sent me home with a few fuel related items to work on...
One being a fuel lab afr and the other to finish the d16y8 manifold mods.

Just need a few more fuel components to be delivered.

Mock fitting of the d16y8 intake manfiold done this morning. Also installed 6an snap lock fittings on the inline fuel pump along with new fuel line able to handle E85 and methanol this morning

There is not much room for error with this manifold.

Going to use the stock d16y8 fuel rail with injector top hats.

Fuel lines all tightened down.
Pressure checked this morning and no fuel leaks.
Gently took apart the wiring harness that handles the throttle body sensors and re routed them. Just need to detail them up this evening and connect the turbo piping at the throttle body...

Looks like your going to need to add some degreaser to your wiper fluid bottle. Other than that your hood looks awesome.

Fill it up with a hose so we can hear what it sounds like when it rains.

I made this last night out of fiberglass to help with the rain issue/jackass dropping shidizzle down the pipe...

just need to detail this up a bit.

took the civic out for some "street tuning" in a parking lot.
got most everything setup regards to fueling and decided to launch it...

This GT3582 turbo spools almost instantly from 5psi to 15psi...then spark blow out occurs.
Time to change the gap and or colder plug.

My tuner told me to stop having fun and come see him to finish the tune! he said if anything set the boost controller to 6psi.
