I read in a honda magazine that there is a company that makes a mounting kit for a k24. (from an accord) its not a vtec but 160 hp 160 torque would still be nice and they are everywhere and cheap. finding a manual is harder but not impossible and it certainly is a cheap way of gaining 45-50 hp if you are a competent DIYer.
I might try it some day since I have a dx and want more power too but am on a budget.

Your best bet.....this is what my boy did.......
Find a totaled RSX in a yard or at an auction and buy it. You will have everything you need to do the sway as long as the car is not a front accident. Then when your done. sell off the rest of the **** you didnt use. You will also come out with a 5 lug conversion, seats and more. He got his at a junk yard auction for 4 grand. not too bad for everything he got.

That is not a bad idea at all.. I didn't even think of that.. You'd still need to buy the mounts for it though, wouldn't you? But then again, what's another 600 bucks at that point

Actually you would have the entire front cross member to sway from that car to yours.

Ok I can see your point on that one. But for us ol timers that bought our cars new and remember when it would cost you around 10-15g's for the swap its a nice change in price.
I guess for 10,000 bucks you could have got a better car with a better powerplant.
but consider it cost around 4-6 grand to proberly turbo a D17, 6 grand for a motor swap is not that bad.

Ya honda is proud as hell of the new civic. You can tell by the pricing.

There was a decent 08 DX Coupe at the local Pontiac dealership for 13.5k with 13k miles on it... I should've bought it while I had the chance.

Crew chief does have a good idea on the junk yard. Find a rsx-s and you get a k20a2 find a basic rsx and get a k20a3. And if you get them they will have everything you will need except motor mounts and of course k pro. But after all of that then the little bit of money you get back from the rest of the rsx that you sold would be worth it. And I liked the idea on the 5 lug to lol.
Hell if you get the k20a3 then you could find the a2 head and swap the valvetrain and etc into the k20a3 head making it vtec killer and she will be ready for some boost to lol. The a3's are good for boost on what I have seen. I have a couple of buddies running 10-12 psi on stock internals and have had it for a yr. The a3 as been proven itself lately to be just as good as the a2.

in canada its so hard to find a junked rsx... ive tried. I'm having trouble locating the parts for a rear disc conversion.. sometimes i wish i lived in the states. your 4k for a junked RSX turns into 8k here really, really fast. To give you an idea of the price difference. Bought the civic brand new in 2005, 29k out the door compared to your numbers, and that price was not bad for an EX at the time.
I know I bought mine brand new, but one here with 6k still runs for 25+ for an EX.
